Quoting: DrakkerI hope the Canadian pricing is an error... because 99$ USD is roughly 135$ in CAD right now... not 149$.
Probably not. Keeping round numbers in different currency is a thing :(

For EUR is even worse 99EUR is 116 USD
It's not worse. Euro prices include VAT, so 116/1.21 = 96 USD, so it's a bit less even.

Quoting: Cat_fanIMO there are only three features using LLM which should be installed by default (on a desktop setup): LLM based text-to-speech, LLM based speech-to-text/voice commands and image description tied to tts.

And only the two first features should be active by default and opt-out with the first page of the installer asking if you want to keep them active or not. And the third features being opt-in with no model pre-uploaded (but uploading a local model being easy).

Because they are accessibility features.
You say that but there is one little problem. Where should they run? If it's an online service it shouldn't and can't be on by default. And if it's run locally, it'll take quite a bit of power to do so and the "accessibility" of it becomes a lot less. I which case a more targeted and less brute force solution might be preferable.

Quoting: suchLet's not forget that $99 does not include tax, so the actual price is actually higher.
Dollar sits pretty low these days, so still just over a hundred euro. Expensive, but not too bad if it's a quality controller. Isn't this thing trackable by the Frame? VR controllers are 150 euro, so it's still a good distance away from that.

Quoting: KimyrielleNot sure how I feel about the forced switch to Wayland. I know, I know! It's the future. But I am still not 100% convinced it's fully ready to take over yet.

Oh, well, I won't have to deal with it until December anyway - which is when this release will make it into Mint 23.
Look back at the first time Canonical said they would make Wayland the default. It's actually pretty funny.

Looks pretty good. Prices are surprisingly ok. But account+denuvNo seals the deal. I'm not relying on Stop Killing Games to take care of my consumer rights.

11 bit studios are totally remaking This War of Mine

Quoting: GuestDoesn't really need to be brought up to "current standards" whatever that means, ...
That's what I was thinking. They could do a completely new take on the game, like a fully 3d game instead of a 2.5D one, but I wouldn't class that as a remake.

The positive thing that I can see here is that if it helps knowledge go around that running local models is possible and easy, it might reduce the stranglehold of a bunch of companies on the market. I highly doubt the "general public" does anything with LLMs that is outside of the capability of open models. Of course I may be overestimating that "general public"'s interest in consequences of giving multi-billion dollar companies power.

Did Proton 10 ever release out of beta? Don't remember ever using it except for one recent game where I had to use Proton Experimental.

Quoting: LoudTechieAlso the big maintainers(Linus, KDE, FSF, RHEL, etc) will face pressure to add the feature.
In the end it will become a build option to add and not add this.
That would be the easy thing. But that ultimately means nothing as it is removed quicker than it can be added. It is fundamentally impossible add this sort of thing into an open source system and have it "work". And what comes then is the scary part. If anyone can remove said protection, then maybe a "smart" government official will decide that only "approved" systems should be bootable on computers. Bring in "SecureBoot NG-STC", a mandatory security system that makes sure that only lawful systems can be booted on computers! Problem solved!
