I love MESA, it's nice to feel that it is just getting better and better.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and XCOM 2 are both super cheap this weekend

I subscribed to last month's humble monthly bundle to get XCOM2, I am tweakin' and stuff to get it to work (I am like just about on recommended specs, with AMD card) and it seems awesome. I like that I got it for 10.8 dollars, (also I got all those other games, but they were kinda meh). It seems great anyhow, I hope I can play it well soon!
I read your optimize XCOM2 post Liam, and I get OK FPS during play, but what is not working is cutscenes - they play (I can hear them fine) but there is only the first frame of video showing for some reason, it's frozen.
Also, the wait between turns/actions is very long (FPS is fine, I can scroll about and so on, but loading dialogue lines during the tutorial takes ages, nothing happens for seconds for no apparent reason). I will try to fix that, perhaps just turn audio off (I dont care), and I am verifying the game also. I am happy I can play at all! Kinda of a gamble to buy the game with my specs!

Quoting: tofuheadhey thanks buenaventura this worked! I think it was the oxce3.3 that hadn't installed. No problem, as said, I spent a LONG time fiddling around with trying to compile stuff myself, working around library issues etc etc it was a nightmare. The readme's and instructions are really muddled and outdated.

1. Get the rar from here [External Link]
2. Extract to a nice folder, put following original xcom folders from wine-install of the win steam version ("<wineprefix>.steam/steamapps/common/xcom ufo defense/XCOM" something like that) OR do that fancy steamdl-stuff mentioned in a comment above (never tried that myself):
GEODATA
GEOGRAPH
MAPS
ROUTES
SOUND
TERRAIN
UFOGRAPH
UFOINTRO
UNITS
into /user folder in the piratez folder.
3. Get appropriate executable ("marked oxce3.3", for me it was the 64bit Xenial one [External Link] ) from here (this step was hard, I tried compiling on my own but had no luck, until someone just happened to drop this link): https://lxnt.wtf/oxem/ [External Link] - put it next to the windows .exe in the game folder
4. Start that executable! YAY! Now options->mods->change to X-Piratez, then change settings in various parts of options as specified here [External Link].
5. BAM! You are ready! It's very hard! Read the bootypedia back-to-back.
Edit: Here are some instructions for Arch Linux [External Link] also, they seem good (I never found them before)

Quoting: tofuheadI also had a lot of trouble (HOURS, and the installation instructions included are crap), then I asked for help some more [External Link] so here is a short guide from that thread to all tuxers:Quoting: buenaventuraAlso, check out the x-piratez [External Link], it's awesome.hmm, that looked nice... but I couldn't make it work, just segfaults after the microprose logo.
any tips how to get it working? (in addition to the installation instructions on the archive)

Quoting: qptain NemoNo problem! The review I linked to is of an much earlier version also - the game has gotten MUCH bigger and better since then! If you have trouble installing (I sure did, the readme's included in the download are NOT helpful) search the forums for "piratez on linux" - I made that thread and BAM someone gave me this tasty link to an executable and it just worked. Bootypedia installation instructions are needed to to tweak the options etc. A little setting up, but it is great!Quoting: buenaventuraAlso, check out the x-piratez [External Link], it's awesome.Thank you for sharing this, it sounds fantastic!

00:01.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Mullins [Radeon R4/R5 Graphics] [1002:9851] (rev 05) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
So, is that in there or what? :P These naming-problems are ridiculous!
Anyway, is there any real performance benefit yet, going AMDGPU?

Great work Liam! It must be quite stressful to run a site like this - after all, you have a lot of people counting on you to keep the security tight.
