RimWorld horror-themed Anomaly expansion and update 1.5 announced
14 Mar 2024 at 6:27 pm UTC

An exact release date wasn't given, it was just said the release date is "is in one month".
It's gotta be during the solar eclipse next month, the new main menu art even shows an eclipse in progress. If it isn't I will be very unhappy with Tynan.

And finally, wall lights in vanilla! That was on track to becoming the "I never play with mods, but of course I'm using X mod" mod.

Non-gestalt machine empires‽‽ 😯 Finally!

Oh, and a new Crisis sounds pretty neat too. And more origins are always fun.

Explore a solar system in colony-builder Trappist

Quoting: Purple Library GuyDash it! I thought "Whoa, a game about space monks!" but no, the star system is just called Trappist. Major letdown.
The system [External Link] is named from the survey [External Link], Transiting Planets and Planetesimals Small Telescope (TRAPPIST), which is named after the traditional beer [External Link] from the monks [External Link].

Looks pretty interesting from a quick glance at the video, I'll have to check it out when I get time.

Steam had a bit of a scam problem with fakes of Helldivers 2 and Palworld

Quoting: Slayer5934This could actually be the start of something worse, like steam and open source taking a reputation hit.
Steam, maybe (though I personally doubt it), but how would anyone connect this to open source? Steam isn't open source. It wasn't even a security issue, just bad actors abusing normal functionality in unforeseen ways (though hopefully the fact that it happened will cause Valve to make some changes to prevent it happening again).

I see a simple fix that shouldn't cause too much trouble for anyone: have any "Store name" changes require manual approval. That's not something that should legitimately need to be changed very often, so it shouldn't unduly burden Valve employees, and it won't matter that the description, screenshots, etc. can be changed if the name remains the same. It's a little odd to me that it can be changed at will right now.

A friend of mine was itching to start a new co-op playthrough back in December, but we decided we didn't want to start one only for a big update to come out soon after, so we've been waiting for this announcement.

Windowkill is a clever multi-window twin-stick shooter that moves around your screen

I'm not really into bullet hell games, but I love the creativity here. I dabble in painting and I've discovered I like the idea of paintings that stretch over multiple canvases, so a game taking place in multiple windows is pretty neat.

I've often thought that if I ever made a game that had a mini-map in one corner, I'd include an option to pop it out into a second window for people like me with multiple monitors, where it could free up space in the main game window and use the space of a second monitor.

Quoting: razing32Remember when we had video games fantasizing about dragons and spaceships.
Now we seem to be fantasizing about home ownership :dizzy:
People play games to do things they can't in real life. (Generally speaking…)
