Apogee? …now there's a name I've not heard in a long, long time. I had to go look it up, but 20 years ago I used to play their edutainment games Word Rescue and Math Rescue.

Quoting: Ehvis
Quoting: scaineEdit to note that this game looks like one that Ehvis will enjoy - massive manufacturing, research trees, building at scale. I feel a spreadsheet coming on!!
Some TTD with a hint of Factorio. But ..... time! Only 24 hours in a day. And 7 days in a week. Anybody available to do my day job for me?
Don't look at me, I've got a thesis to finish writing!

Brekekekex, ko-ax, ko-ax! Funnily enough I was just randomly reading about The Frogs (the Aristophanes play alluded to) a few weeks ago on Wikipedia. Looks like a pretty amusing game.

Management sim with an infinite voxel world 'Voxel Tycoon' heads to Steam on April 15

I've been waiting for this release on Steam since, like, 2019 or so (yes, I know it's been available elsewhere but I and a friend have been waiting for the Steam release for Steam's easy multiplayer abilities). :woot:

Also, what is it with games releasing on April 15th? There's this, Stellaris: Nemesis, Rain On Your Parade—you guys all seriously couldn't have released two weeks earlier so I could have played you over Easter Break‽

US Supreme Court sides with Google against Oracle about copying APIs being 'fair use'

Quoting: CatKiller
Quoting: The_Aquabatthis article never mentions which country's Supreme Court, many countries have Supreme Court, it's not obvious, had to click on the link to find out.
While technically true, how many countries have given us Oracle vs Google?
Also true, but large tech companies seem to end up in court in countries other than their country of origin pretty often nowadays. While it might be a reasonable inference, simply prepending "US" to "Supreme Court" would be a simple two-letter tweak to the article that would immediately make it clearer for everyone who wasn't aware of this lawsuit beforehand.

Steam Play Proton 6.3 is out now plus a Proton Experimental update (updated)

Hmm, Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition is now freezing repeatably on the loading screen with 6.3, and every other version I've tried.

Microsoft reportedly have Discord in their sights to acquire
4 Apr 2021 at 5:16 am UTC

Quoting: slaapliedjeYeah, what I meant wasn't that Discord was only used for gaming voice chat, but that instead of using in-game voice chat, or steam voice chat, they use Discord's voice chat. For sure, I'm in a few communities around things, one of which is the Atari VCS Founders group, and never once used the voice chat features for any of them. We use Discord for the voice chat though for our Valheim server.
Ahh, fair enough. My misunderstanding.

Excellent news! Multiplayer was a nice surprise already, it's great to have it be cross-platform as well.
