Linux usage on Steam is better than people think

I love Linux and hate its non-adoption on the desktop. I'm chuffed at the article in Maximum PC that advised readers to reformat their Steam Machine and just install Windows. I chortle at Microsoft's closed-garden approach. I applaud Steam for trying harder than anyone else to bring quality games to Linux users.

No, I haven't gotten a Steam survey yet.

How SteamOS could become a better console competitor

PC magazines have been bitching that OpenGL isn't as fast as DirectX, and especially how there are so comparitively few SteamOS games compared to Windows games. Maximum PC even suggested to SteamBox owners that they install Windows instead over SteamOS :><: .

Feh.

Torment: Tides of Numenera launches in Early Access without Linux support, coming much later

Another game I Kickstarted. I'll be happy if a Linux version is available on release; they certainly mentioned Linux on the page. It may be like Wasteland 2, which gave free copies of the ancient original to backers long before the new version came out, cross-platform the day of release. I'd love it if they released free copies of Planescape:Torment in a similar manner.

Not that I'm holding my breath waiting for that to happen  ...
