Shovel Knight looks great. I'd love to show support by purchasing it, but sadly I can't, so I'll resort to trying to win it here! Either way, hope whoever wins enjoys it.
That era of gaming seemed to thrive on clarity. The graphics were usually simple, but there was never a point I asked "Where am I?" or "Where do I go?". The controls were generally obvious, and the movement was responsive, often lacking weight and giving it that 'arcade' feeling. Because of that, you'd usually be able to tell whether you could make a jump or not.

At one point they had daily development updates on their website. It's slowed down a bit, since it'd be mostly repeating what they're doing and they don't want too many spoilers. Feel free to check that out if you're having doubts.

Try subscribing to the nightly build. It's looking great so far. I just took a peek, but I'll be avoiding it to avoid spoilers for myself until the game is closer to being finished.
maybe i am wrong, maybe im injust and they are all cool, but i was disappointed by the rate and quality of their updates and hoped for a way more complex game that would emerge in the end. so when i read this article all i read is actually this:
"as soon as a 1+ year long early access beta with cosmetic changes is no longer tolerated by people we will just open source the thing, hand over developement to them and start pushing our next early access game to earn $ with"

Isometric terrain, eh? Sounds like we may be able to get a StarCraft mod out of this someday.

First play, the mental patient, I lured out of the room, ran back in, closed the door behind me, crafted a weapon and killed him. I agree, though. There's very little hand-holding, and I think that's a massive boost in the creepiness factor. They taught a few basic controls then sent you out on your own, from the looks of it.
I'm thinking the start is scripted, and later you'll be sent out on your own, into the randomly generated world. They did mention on the front Steam page that world generation is really bad right now, and that it's a top priority.
I'm not one to get scared by games or anything, but this game's doing a pretty good job at the creepiness factor so far.

Haven't really played much of anything the past few days. Latest I played was XCOM:EU. It was a little disappointing, but I didn't play it all that much. Besides that, it's been a lot of Tallowmere. Loving that game, and it got another update recently.

Huh. I kind of gave up hope on this game the moment I moved to Linux. Guess I have no choice but to give it a good playthrough.

Arcen Games Porting AI War & More To Linux

This was pretty unexpected for me. I thought for sure they had written porting their existing games to Linux off.
I enjoyed AI Wars back then and I'm sure it'll feel right at home on Linux. Can't wait to see all the changes they've made since I last played.
It's too bad about Tidalis, though I'm not very surprised. Casual games are pretty enjoyable and it's a shame I'll be missing out on it.
I'd like to give Valley Without Wind another try, I thought it was fairly fun.
Bionic Dues looks completely uninteresting to me. I'm not a huge fan of turn-based games, though.
The rest of them I don't really know anything about.
I think Arcen has a pretty nice lineup, but the complexity of some of their games and the lack of apparent publicity seems to hurt them.
