Humble have a Stand with Ukraine Bundle with 100% going to charity

Quoting: STiATAnd Valve stops paying ukraine devs. Shame on you Gabe.
Are we back to jumping to conclusions already? It’s an issue with their bank, they are working to resolve it, and developers can request payment to bank accounts situated outside Russia/Belarus/Ukraine in the meantime.

Quoting: slaapliedjeHa, some are complaining about the minimum. I spent enough that they said they had to personally verify it... and I basically have probably 80-90% of the games already.
Ha! Peasants, am I right? I paid so much they named an orphanage after me... and I don’t even play video games.

Humble have a Stand with Ukraine Bundle with 100% going to charity

Quoting: AnzaThere are other ways to donate, so being critical about Humble Bundle doesn't mean not donating at all. itch.io ended their bundle yesterday, but as always, charities accept also direct donations if you actually want to donate instead of essentially buying games (Humble Bundle being the party that is actually donating).
This. I might have gotten the bundle if it had had a cheaper option and/or more games that actually interest me, but I’ve already made a direct donation to the Red Cross that was 100% matched by my government, so anything more I give to this kind of fundraiser will need to actually be appealing to me as a purchase. This one isn’t, for me, but of course it’s good that they are contributing in any way.

And since donating to charity is tax-deductible (where I live at least), I can essentially give more support for the same personal cost by using traditional channels rather than this kind of campaign, so I have no qualms considering this bundle as a product and personal purchase first and foremost. If my chief concern were to contribute to the cause as much as I can, I would look elsewhere.

So bottom line, I’m glad that companies are making this kind of bundle to entice people who wouldn’t straight up donate otherwise, but I agree that a $50 minimum is going to turn off a lot of folks right off the bat. Multiple tiers would have been nice.

GOG suspends all sales in Russia and Belarus

Quoting: slapinI understand people behind sanctions but things do not work this way here. People will just consolidate and finally China will benefit from everything. That is because everyone here is in special kind of information bubble in which Putin is right and nation hero. So to avoid same thing happenning again there should be something which makes people see what is really going on. Thinking people already protesting but that is in vain because they have zero support.
If most of the world stopping trade with Russia and providing support to Ukraine, companies pulling out of the country, Putin preventing Russians from leaving the country, etc. doesn’t make them realize that something is wrong with their country, I don’t know what will. All the sanctions play into that. We are pushing the Russian population on the brink so that they take things into their own hands, because a direct military intervention by other countries could trigger a nuclear war that would be way more catastrophic than anything Putin could do to Ukraine, if you look at the bigger picture.

Things are absolutely going to suck for the individual Russian, and we well know that they are not to blame for this, but this is something that they have to fix. We’re buying them time, but we can’t do much more. I certainly hope that the world will be there to help them rebuild their economy and democracy when the conflict has ended. They are victims too, though of a different kind.

Gabe hand-delivers signed Steam Decks, sounds like a Steam Deck 2 is planned

Quoting: pseudexI'm pretty sure if there is a deck V2 it will be backward compatible with the first one.
Surprisingly they sold more top tier decks then they thought. So far valve still earns my trust in buying the most expensive one. Unbelievable how open they are with it and the partnership with ifixit is unbelievable good news.
That's what I would call a sustainable product!
Compatible with what exactly? As Liam pointed out, the software itself is already independent from the hardware and runs on virtually any PC.
Commonly known as the Osborne effect. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osborne_effect [External Link]
I think you quoted the wrong post.

ELDEN RING is out and Verified for Steam Deck

Quoting: MrowlThis is basically Steam Deck's secret killer app launch title, much like how BotW was to Switch.
I don't know how accurate this is considering PC players can play it a while before the first consumer Steam Decks find their new homes, but it's certainly great that it can run on day 1.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyI keep seeing the first "Game Feature" as
  • A Vast World Full of Excrement
Ah, so it's not just me

The Steam Deck has released, here's my initial review

Feel free to let me know in the comments what other types of Steam Deck content you want to see!
Besides everything that was already covered here, I'm very curious about the desktop software experience (common stuff like Firefox, Thunderbird, Discord, LibreOffice, any music library...) with regards to usability with the on-screen keyboard and/or an external setup (monitor + inputs) and battery life and responsiveness with multiple of this kind of software running concurrently.

I'm not considering the Deck as a desktop replacement, but maybe as a laptop replacement.

Valve adds official Steam Deck compatibility checker, 762 games Playable or Verified

Regarding Ultimate Chicken Horse specifically:
1. Do we intend to tweak it to make it compatible and resubmit it? Yes! We're looking into it. While Game 2 development is our top priority, we're looking into full Steam Deck verification stuff and hope to address these issues in our next patch bundle.

2. What are the issues that caused it to fail?
a. Hotplugging seems to disable the internal gamepad.
b. Mouse and keyboard glyphs and input are visible even when the gamepad is not connected to mouse + keyboard.
c. There is no on-screen keyboard for the in-game chat system.

So while the game works and runs for most users and most situations, it's not the optimal experience at this time.

PSA: You can hover a game and click the "Steam Deck Compatibility" button to see loosely why it has the current status.
