Easy Anti-Cheat is actually still supported for Linux, a statement from Epic Games

Quoting: mao_dze_dunOh, for fuck sake, what do you people want? A written statement signed in Tim Sweeney's blood? They're not stopping anything and just being honest about prioritizing Windows over Linux because duh. Being critical of Epic is one thing, but being ridiculous tin foil wearer is just absurd.

Good for you for owning up the mistake Liam. Also thank you for the new info on the matter.
Yeah, I'm actually surprised Liam got even this much from them. The fact they bothered to address it at all (rather than one big shoulder shrug and a "who cares?") I find the most encouraging aspect of all...

Quoting: CybolicThis looks quite interesting, but I doubt I'll get it if it isn't released on itch.io or Steam.
With the amount of games available these days, if it's not in my usual game library, I'm sure to forget I ever bought it.
Just install their launcher to your Steam Client. Problem solved. This degree of Linux support in my mind deserves our support. How many titles do you see with Linux UI elements baked into the game???

Regarding the "jet fighter" look of the ships, I was channeling some C64-era Skyfox nostalgia for that...

Yeah, I'd agree it's not looking like a HOTAS kind of title :). For an estimated $10, it sure looks like fun, though!

Quoting: iiariNot using VR, can I ask a stupid question? Will this system allow you to use VR for existing titles out there (including Proton?), or only for games written specifically for this system?
Fully compatible with older VR games.
Ok, so that's interesting, and makes this worth thinking about...

You can now easily run the Epic Store on Linux with Lutris, Epic suggests applying for a grant

Quoting: omer666@epic, look at Quake Champions. That's the kind of games we want to play: Violent, fast-paced FPS. Not some gimmicky nonsense for kids.
I agree. In watching videos of Fortnite, it just looks slow and boring. I play Ballistic Overkill. The game is fast paced, fun to play and runs great on Linux.
I agree. I tried Fortnite on someone else's machine, and I didn't see the appeal at all. Give me Ballistic Overkill any day...

DiRT 4 officially released for Linux, port from Feral Interactive

Quoting: FredOWhy does Dirt 4, which is a nearly 2 year old game, cost more than Dirt Rally 2 which has just been released. I'll buy this once they've sorted out their pricing. :|

Awesome to see another Vulkan port from Feral though - good job!
Agreed. I love Feral and their work, but the price on this strikes me as a bit dear. I might wait for sale on this one...

The Linux port of DiRT 4 from Feral Interactive is releasing March 28th

Quoting: Xpander(sadly FFB doesn't work with proton)
Is this meant as a general statement or specific to DR2? I'm playing Assetto Corsa Competizione with Steam Play/Proton and FFB works just wonderfully with my G25.
Maybe to DR2, and a few other titles. I think Project Cars works with Proton without FFB, but if you run it through Wine FFB works...

No Man's Sky runs very nicely on Linux with Steam Play, huge online feature update and VR support coming

Quoting: jens* I still think that Proton users are also the beta testers for Valves upcoming streaming platform, which is absolutely fine for me, win-win for both. I could be very wrong though ;).
I think (more like hope?) that you're right as well. A Stadia like streaming service that also happens to include your entire existing library is super appealing to me...
