Quoting: WayneJetSkiDamn, I missed the latest sale. I will need to pick it up the next time it goes on sale (fingers crossed for this Friday).
AFAIK, a game cannot go on sale more often than once in a month. Maybe big Steam sales are an exception though.

AMD Radeon RX 6800 and the RX 6800 XT are out today

I'll start to put aside money for RX 6800 XT. By the way, how to switch from Nvidia to AMD? Do I have to uninstall the Nvidia driver first and then swap cards, or do something else?

Quoting: Liam Dawethe new Xbox Wireless Controller (2020) because Microsoft are just as bad at naming their controllers as they are their consoles because you have to add the date <_<
What about "Xbox Series controller"? It seems Microsoft drop console generations and will release new consoles as Xbox Series $CONSOLE_NAME with compatibility for older games and hardware.

Was it ported today or earlier? Steam suddenly redownloaded the whole game one week ago, and the record about Proton was used was gone. All game files remained as Windows files though. I didn't try to launch it, and the Linux files were downloaded only when I selected the Steam Linux Runtime today.

Now it's time to add DualSense (and the new Xbox controller) to "PC info" database.

It's hard to believe but Counter-Strike has turned 20 and it's still going strong

Quoting: JuliusAnd it even got a FOSS engine reimplementation:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/freecs-1-5/
Is it for CS 1.5 only? I've just tried it, at it seems very unfinished with its instant reloading, sway, weird recoil and shooting, etc. I've also tried Xash3D-FWGS, and while it can run Half-Life, it doesn't support CS yet.

Counter-Strike. It celebrates its 20th anniversary today!
Amid Evil. No Linux version yet, but it runs fine with Proton.
Neighbours back From Hell. A port of a console version of Neighbours From Hell (which was a compilation of two games) to Unity. It differs from the original PC version of NFH 1-2 and can be played with a controller.
Them and Us. A Resident Evil-like game, I highly recommend it to classic RE fans. It's on Early Access though and isn't finished yet.
Call of Duty: WWII. It works with Proton 5.13 but crashes too often (singleplayer campaign only, multiplayer and zombies still don't work). Lots of people say it doesn't work at all. The game is mediocre, so don't get disappointed if you can't run it.
Serious Sam Classics: Revolution, a collection of revamped SS: TFE, TSE and a new campaign.

I have also found a new PlayStation 1 emulator recently, DuckStation (available as a Libretro core for RetroArch as well). It's going to be my favourite PS1 emulator. It has a lot a graphics settings like widescreen for 3D games without stretching videos and better game compatibility than Beetle-PSX-HW which has troubles with running modified games, e.g. translated ones.

There is one more ASCII game: ASCIIDENT. Not for Linux though.

Gabe Newell of Valve is launching Gnome Chompski into space (yes really)
3 November 2020 at 4:00 am UTC

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoRemember that in Episode 2 there was steam achievement about launching the gnome to the space.
Gabe is playing HL2 Ep2 and wants to get all achievements. But the guide he's read was written in too obscure way. Someone, tell him that he doesn't have to launch a real gnome figurine into real space.

BTW, it is Gaben's birthday today.
