DirectX isn't just bad for Linux and OS X, it's bad for Windows as well! Being locked out of supporting older Windows platforms is horrible. For any developer, it is well known that a vast majority of the world still runs on older versions of Windows. Using DX11 or DX10 only is not an option, thus why many games still have a DX9 fallback.

Instead of suffering with Direct3D and pulling in extra work to support multiple DirectX iterations, just move on to OpenGL! I've been hoping for quite a while that developers would move in this direction :)

going to go for an 8-core AMD next shouldn't have an issue there!

You should do an unboxing and a video of it running your Linux OS, if you get that CPU!

I am really looking forward this game. But I am happy to wait for the final product. I never though I was going to say that but I have plenty of games to play on linux at the moment.

Indeed, but not without permission from Deep Silver. Publishers hold the funds, I'm sure they have a strong say in what's permissible. Don't get me wrong, I love both the developers and the publisher right now :)

Sweet! No doubt we're getting Linux support thanks to YoYoGames ensuring that Game Maker Studio supports Linux. Really goes to show that as long as the engines support Linux, the likeliness of us getting a Linux port of the game is almost a certainty. :)

SSZ works brilliantly on Ubuntu 13.04! In the options menu, it actually has a setting for multi-monitor mode. I've never seen that option in any other game I've played before. Too bad I don't have an Occulus Rift, I'd like to try it with this game. I did a short video of SSZ running in Ubuntu with maxed out settings at 1080p, runs very well :)
Now, I hope Strike Suit Infinity might come to Linux too as I have that as well.
