It's a fair request.
Fear of security and stability won't be a problem. In Linux Mint, there are three update levels. One for new users,it also has a description for it.This option has very limited update options. It doesn't even update Linux kernel.
Second one is recommended,Linux kernel and kernel security updates available.
Third one is higly experimental, for pro users.
With options like this, there won't be a problem.Leave it to user choice

I had this game on Steam.Acquired by a Steam product key, which i don't remember when or where i get it.
I played it a little bit(about one and a half hour)last month and it was beautiful. If they keep Linux version steady(I'm using Linux Mint 18,earlier 17.3)this title would be a great indie. It has an interesting story, good gameplay and good keyboard-mouse controller settings.

Just a heads up 'Firewatch' is currently rather broken on Linux

We need Vulkan to getting adopted by big devs as soon as possible.
We must face the fact, the gamers are more interested with big AAA products.
Which is pretty normal.
And one thing to this closed platform vs open platform thing.
Gamers simply don't care it.They are just looking for ultimate gaming.Open or closed, they simply don't care.
So with much more AAA(even a Witcher 3 will be spectecular) products and with much more multiplayer games(which is great in Linux,Cs:Go,Rocket League,Dota 2;but i personally saw that many of casual gamers are just wanted to move on Linux but the lack of League of Legends most of them just giving up from moving Linux decision)and with Vulkan performance getting similar to Directx SteamOS and Linux will accomplish their gaming goals.

Quoting: ShmerlIt worked, thanks :DQuoting: LeopardI already installed d3dx9_36,also i noted on the topic.Which, the topic owner recommended it.As far as I remember, d3dx9_36 doesn't help, you need d3dx9_35 specifically.
I'll give it a try with 35 version

TL;DR: you need d3dx9_35 native override, until this bug will be fixed: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25857 [External Link]

Quoting: ShmerlI couldn't run it on Mint 18.Quoting: damarrinOS X version isn't using Wine. It's eON from VP, same as with TW2. Meanwhile you just can perfectly play TW1 in Wine yourself, instead of asking GOG to wrap it for you. It's like waiting for peeled potatoes in the store.Quoting: LeopardGog.com should bring their old and only Windows titles to Linux by Wine porting, like Topware didLike they did with is Mac version. I found the omission of Linux baffling, especially in the light of the subsequent Linux version of W2.
For example:The Witcher Enhanced Edition
