No? Dota2 and Underlords

Metro Exodus to get a release date for Linux "soon" say 4A Games

Quoting: Lolo01Clearly a purchase for me when it comes out on Linux.
Apart from the Feral ports, we don't have too many AAA's lately.

Quoting: celphyPretty torn over here. EGS's exclusivity is a no-go for me.
But I'd like to support a Linux version ASAP.
Well, Exodus is no more an exclusivity.
Let me clarify that:

A developer that has decided to enter into an exclusivity deal with Epic is not someone I want to support.
In the end they are placing money over consumer interests and hoping it works out in their favour.
I personally don't want it to pay off so I'd rather not buy those games.
I don't think developers has any influence over store deals , you should blame publishers.

Quoting: KelvinhboProton is not just a "band-aid", it's revolutionary, and all I'm trying to say is that the resources and time that are being wasted on Linux native ports could be better used on making Proton better, compatible with all games and anti-cheat systems. At this time maintaining multiple ports of games is expensive, unnecessary and unreasonable.
They are already making native Linux port for Stadia, so this argument makes no sense.
I'm pretty sure they are just running the games over Vulkan and calling that a native game, or do you actually think they are re-writing the whole games and making Linux exclusive binaries?

That's the only time a Linux native game makes sense, when you write the game from the ground up to take advantage of the low level API's Linux offers. Only if the market share of Linux Desktop was high enough that would make sense.
Actually there's a good deal of Stadia development target information out there - and yes, they are native builds of games.
Much of game engines is already platform agnostic, but the real kicker is if you have to change the basic structure to accommodate a different rendering backend. Khronos has done a lot of work to make Vulkan very flexible, so that shouldn't be too painful.
Shaders have been a problem, but Google plugged the missing gap by investing in a HLSL to SPIR-V compiler.

Of course, Stadia is a single hardware target - and that will no doubt make QA and risk assessment easier.
Ok. So a game like Destiny 2 have been completely re-written for Linux and is not running over Vulkan for Stadia.
Would love to see some evidence on that if you don't mind.

NVIDIA have a new Vulkan Beta driver out for Linux fixing some regressions
16 Feb 2020 at 7:53 pm UTC

Quoting: kaimanExperiencing the swapchain recreation crash with F1 2017 firsthand, but given that the game didn't work at all with the previous beta driver, I'm in no hurry to upgrade. But seems I can stop spamming Feral whenever it does crash :-). (Which, so far, has always been _after_ it saved its state, so it's bearable, if not ideal)
With 440.59 those games works fine. This regression belongs to previous vlk beta driver , not to stable driver.

SteamVR 1.9 is out, Linux VR users may want to opt into a Beta

Quoting: MatomboI'm now owing a Valve index but i sadly must admit that steamvr for linux is still more or less a beta overall:
Camera not working
Audio not working without tinkering
Mic not working without tinkering
Reprojection is causing headdache inducing flickering
And the constant rumbling bug in the controllers (i guess that's what they are refering to the "rare" stuck haptics bug, which isn't quite so rare)

However, despite this I'm havin a blast playing Serious Sam and Talos Principle und other games using proton ^^.
Still considering to upgrade my rig and getting an Index in time for Alyx.

Did you give it a try under Windows?
If so - is it better there?
Jep only thing broken in windows so far is that you can't adjust the camera refresh rate.

But i only played around on windows for one and a half day, so no exhaustive report here.

Reprojection works on AMD gpu's with Radv , but not on Nvidia.

But yeah , other points are valid.
I am on an amd gpu vega 56 on latest drivers (don't know the version number but I'm using manjaro)
What is Radv?
Vulkan driver for AMD gpu's that lives in Mesa.

AMDVLK=! radv ( started by Red Hat people, mainly being developed by Valve these days)

AMDGPU-PRO= AMDVLK+prop compiler

Some early first impressions of Google Stadia played on Linux

Quoting: michaldybczakHow did they make Destiny 2 run if protondb shows it as borked? Everyone says that Stadia is on Linux but it looks like there are only Linux servers. The game is somehow streamed from Windows or am I missing something?
If it's borked due to DRM or anticheats then it's not a problem for Stadia+Wine.
Stadia is a different Linux based platform which anti cheats or drm's are not necessary.

User can't modify/manipulate anything because user only interacts with a video stream. Not the game itself at all.

No , Stadia is not using Wine. There is no reason for it.

Set between Half-Life and Half-Life 2, Valve have now properly announced Half-Life: Alyx (updated)

Quoting: bubexelThis game will appear on linux. Other thing will be the performance. But it will show on linux.
Just guessing what could be a potential problem for Valve.
It's not just an announcement.
You can pre-order the game and pay real money.
That's why they feel pressured to put some systems requirements.
(Otherwise I'd say just leave it empty for now)

But judging from the specs of the Windows version,
the requirements for Linux will also be quite high.
While (I hate to say it) this won't be much of an issue
for Nvidia GPUs but the state of the current drivers for
the newer AMD Navi cards will have to improve over the next few month.
It might be that Valve didn't want to omit AMD just for a start
(they are stakeholders and contributing to the AMD Mesa driver, right?),
but also couldn't just yet definitely say it will work in March...(?)
Actually AMD gpu support for VR on Linux is better than Nvidia.

Nvidia doesn't support Async reprojection on Linux while RADV does.
