Heroes of Hammerwatch released on Steam for Linux, no GOG release due to missing Galaxy

( Mine is much more a reaction to it)
He likes these:
- Nvidia shitposting , AMD praising. Even ignoring that Nvidia was the only successful provider on Linux for a long time.
- Steam shitposting , GOG praising. Despite he is only getting these games on GOG still thanks to Steam on Linux launch and SteamMachines push.
- Dev blaming , rather than the system won't give them chance to use equal tools on Linux.
There is no need for being ungreatful to some companies even if you don't like them. Because they did so much good things on Linux and still keep doing.

Being a Polish person is not automatically means being an advocate of GOG , CDPR. Drop it. Please.C'mon, no need for the attitude. Everyone is a friend here and everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Heroes of Hammerwatch released on Steam for Linux, no GOG release due to missing Galaxy

So i need to see developers before guessing their visions by depending their previous actions. I saw GOG devs on here , Reddit and BoilingSteam. They were very strict with Galaxy.
So , answer honestly please.
Did you see any MS dev on here and there? Yet you will say MS is a scumbag company , right?
Did you see any Valve dev on here and there? Yet you will say Valve is DRM'ed evil , right?
So ignore this simple fact while you can , until the very end Shmerl. Being a Polish person is not automatically means being an advocate of GOG , CDPR. Drop it. Please.

Quoting: ShmerlWhat?Quoting: LeopardTheir vision is same.I don't really know what CDPR vision is, they are completely non talkative and never explain their reasoning (unlike GOG employees who gave AMAs and actually answer questions). Did you see any CDPR developers here? You can find GOG developers here on GamingOnLinux.

Totally absurd , they're targeting Windows and Mac only. That's it , they're just same companies under different divisions with game makers and market supervisors. Their vision is same.

Quoting: ShmerlYou know what , that is like saying " I hate MS and all of it's paywalls but i like MS Office and i like it's paywalls."Quoting: KimyrielleBeth & Co. are openly hostile towards Linux. GOG is just "not friendly". Not the same thing. And sorry, but I don't consider a company that doesn't even port its own games to Linux "Linux friendly".GOG isn't run by CDPR, they are related, but not the same people are making decisions for each. So while CDPR can now be considered not Linux friendly because they totally borked The Witcher 3 Linux release, GOG is Linux friendly, because they support Linux games. However, I'd say they are not doing enough to avoid problems such as these, i.e. lack of Galaxy preventing Linux releases.

Because absence of Gog Galaxy and according to that some Linux versions are not on GOG , Shmerl will took the route of blaming either game devs or he will say " Galaxy Client is not needed " ; instead of blaming GOG for not providing such as a useful tool ( networking , game organizing and keeping them update) for Linux at first place.

Quoting: jensNo , actually you got Shmerl wrong.Quoting: ShmerlDevelopers should learn how to make this optional because it's not a multiplayer only game. Seriously, it's quite unprofessional. Added another Galaxy victim to the list [External Link].I think it's quite unprofessional to call an engineer unprofessional without ever having spoken to him/her
That's the real problem with Galaxy, and not the lack of the client.
or without ever having seen a bit of code.

Don't make promises , if you are not really interested.
The situation with 'Underworld Ascendant' and Linux support is currently a little confusing

Quoting: GuestIt seams like they might do a Linux port but dont want to actually have to support said port after the release.Yep , sounds like " Linux backers can have this but we are not responsible for bugs , crashes etc. So we won't release it on market. We just kept our promise. "
I backed this game but i am getting more and more suspicious. For a game due this year it still looks quite clunky and for a team that needed this kickstarter to make this game it is strange how they hoped on board to develop System Shock 3 before this one got released.

I agree with you , that kind of attitude + GOG praising even Cdpr , Gog don't care about Linux made me some kind of cold about Drm free stuff.
Anyway , i apologize from everyone whom i offended. I was trying to explain " that is not a caring attitude at all , if you are upset or worried about it " but it gone into a different way.

Quoting: RutineSure , i was a bit harsh on that and not everybody needs to care. I got a little furious because he sounded like cares but turns out he is not. Then what is the point of making sadfaces about it? That is an equal move to buying a Windows only game then screaming on Steam forums like " Port it to Linux. ". Why should dev even care? You already bought it despite it is not on Linux , he made his sale.Quoting: LeopardWell , we're talking on a game Linux sale numbers and then when i talk about feeding Windows instead of Linux , then making sad faces in the message while one simply does not care ; suddenly you call it a zealous move.Zealous is despising the guy just because in your opinion he does not care.
I have been a Linux user for 10 years, and for two years now more or less I don't dual boot. But I'm not on the "exclusively DRM free" side, even if I know it should matter to me. But when some guys caring about DRM free talk to me as if I was a criminal, well, it doesn't motivate me at all. Same thing applies here. I think that to defend our ideas we should talk to people respectfully, especially when they are at least partly on our side (Linux side in this case)

Godot Engine to work on Vulkan support
28 Feb 2018 at 6:11 am UTC
Because their work will still perform good enough. That is why we saw Dx12 and Vulkan on so high profiled games. These api's need much more knowledge to use it efficiently.
Of course , if Vulkan make into standart engines we will see much more Vulkan games because it is on Win7 , Win8 , MacOS and Linux too.
28 Feb 2018 at 6:11 am UTC
Quoting: KimyrielleFrom what I heard, some developers are keen on -either- DX12 or Vulkan right now. Some voiced that DX11 is "good enough" and low-level APIs aren't worth the additional trouble.Still most of the devs will go with Dx11 or ( much less than Dx11 ) OpenGL.
If that holds true, Vulkan might not turn out to be the perfect solution for cross-platform development we hoped for, and we'd still face the issue that DX11 is both the better API and massively more popular than OpenGL.
Still glad to see that they're going to add it!

I think sharing sale numbers and talking about it is a zealous move in the first place. We should talk about how well did this game sold on every platform , not especially on Linux.

Quoting: liamdaweRemember to keep it cool, there's absolutely no need for any kind of platform elitism here and we don't like it.Well , we're talking on a game Linux sale numbers and then when i talk about feeding Windows instead of Linux , then making sad faces in the message while one simply does not care ; suddenly you call it a zealous move.
While true it's better if you buy your games on Linux directly and install them and play them on Linux first, we still have a lot of dual-booting user testing the waters of Linux. Don't become a zealot and put them off.
