GunHero, a new action platformer styled like Broforce released with Linux support

Quoting: tuubi
Quoting: Whitewolfe80for f*ck sake enough of this bad pixel shite at least make the games look like a 16 bit game instead of mess of blocks.(owlboy is retro pixels done right)
Yeah, why didn't they simply make it as pretty as Owlboy? It's just art, right? It's not like it requires real talent, skill, effort or time. I'm sure the developer appreciates and will take heed of your super constructive criticism. [/snark]
Sorry edgelord but i am sick and tired of pixel crap games there are so many and i am so over them. Yes creating a game takes talent, but i hope that creativity would lead them to look at just how many pixel barf games (broforce is a fun game but looks terrible) are available and then decide on a different art style.
If you are a Linux gamer then you gotta love this kind of games because there is not good games on the horizon as usual

Banished is what Linux lacks.

Cyberpunk horror game 'Observer' from Bloober Team & Aspyr Media will likely see a delayed Linux release

Quoting: KimyrielleI think we're used to delays of developers with little to no Linux experience underestimating the demands of cross-platform development or simply overlooking the fact that Windows-only middleware doesn't magically compile on Linux.

But Aspyr?

Really?
No , actually they're experienced with Linux and OsX. These are the devs of Layers of Fear which is available for Linux and OsX.
That was Kimyrielle's point - they are experienced, and should be able to properly plan for simultaneous release, if it's a priority for them.
Support on Unreal Engine for Linux is a mess when compared to Unity , maybe they are little underestimated this and planned like they are on Unity

Also @Comandante Ñoñardo , having a depot for a platform doesn't mean anything.

For a recent example : Everspace.

They have depots but for Linux but they delayed Linux release because of UnrealEngine 4 problems on Linux and also Nvidia driver problems on Linux.

Editorial: No, Valve is not killing SteamOS or the Steam Controller

SteamOS is not dead and people were so curious about it when it is released because they don't care about using Windows for gaming.

They are using Windows because all games are there.

SteamOS announced at 4 years ago , also Steam Client for Linux released at that time. Before Steam , gaming on Linux was not a real thing because 25-30 games maybe available for Linux.

Today we have 3000+ games but sadly more of them are indies and we are lacking of AAA's. That is keeping Windows gamers away from Linux+SteamOS.

Some would say Wine is a savior but i'm against it. Wine is the last resort and it has so much missing feature when compared to Windows ( obviously ) but most important thing is : Wine is not providing ease. Sometimes you need to apply tons of patches , fixes for a single game.

A gamer is a simple creature. It seeks for simple click install and then click play. So Wine or POL , Lutris are not providing that.

When we start to get AAA's by companies themselves without performance losses everything will change but AAA devs are not into because if they do it they will create a serious platform that can compete with Windows and when it happens it means that : They must prepare a Linux version and that equals extra work for them.

So Windows being superior when it comes to AAA stuff , that is related to devs attitude. They don't want to deal with any other platforms , they're already dealing with Windows , Xbox and PlayStation.

Why did i not include OSX to that ? Because that place is limited by Apple's preconfigs so even if they port all the games that won't run as expected when it compared to Windows and Linux hardware freedom.

Shakedown: Hawaii from the Retro City Rampage developer is now only a possibility for Linux

Quoting: razing32Wait. If they are porting to Switch , doesn't that mean they'll use Vulkan ? Or with graphics this simple it's irrelevant ?
Switch is not using Vulkan primarily , it is only experimental.

Switch is using NVN API ( developed by Nvidia , Switch chipset provider ) as main development API.

GOG have released DOSBox wrapped copies of The Humans series with Linux versions

Quoting: TheBardWhen it's about getting easy money from us, gog is very good (a DOSBox wrapper is not a hard thing at all). But to port a client that is sometimes required for multiplayer (Zombasite) then they ignore us. I'm looking forward when Itch.io is the main DRM-Free store. At least they treast us well.
I don't get the issue? Zombasite is on GOG [External Link] with a Linux version.

Also, it's not up to GOG to get Linux versions on the store, that's up to the original developer. DOSBox games are entirely different.
I think he means GoG Galaxy Client , Witcher Card Game ( Unity Engine ) , Witcher 1 etc.

Games or programs Gog and Cdpr can decide about Linux and Mac versions.

He is doing with Vulkan and it is ready to test

Thank you all for the great response :)

It's my job to listen to the community and try to fulfill all (of reasonable) wishes. Or at least I think it's my job.

Just another short update: I was able to build the full version now. Took ~4h to build it, Windows version is build in ~20min. The compile log showed some error with a river material for Vulkan API. It's possible that this material get's replaced by a default material. But as this material is only used in a single mission, I'm not going to recomplile it another 4h for now and start uploading to Steam tomorrow.

If some players can confirm that the game is playable, I'll start fixing the Material.
