Can't agree with Seth there, EGS isn't helping anyone but themselves to gain market share to make money and they dont mind using people as collateral...
Bought the game, even though reviews are not that stellar. :/ Had it on wishlist for quite some time, waiting for the release.

But to be honest, I don't think they can stop supporting Linux at this point... Linux as gaming platform is the "future", because of the same reason as it is on servers and in other cases. Sure, it might not always be direct support, like Google Stadia is basically walling off the user from it. But that's where Valve will beat Stadia, because you still have to buy games on Stadia, so yet another library and one that you cant even play locally. Steam offers local play and once streaming service goes live you will be able to stream (almost?) any game from your massive library... no need to port thanks to Steam Play or already native games. If they offer some basic streaming for free like Stadia (fee taken from the 30% cut) then it's no brainer. So no, they really can't stop supporting Linux as it is their competetive edge and future-proofing.

Quoting: Whitewolfe80... I know people love to white knight them but no the track record of cancelling projects and features that they have invested heavily in the past when the demand was not as expected. I hope am just being negative and valve never turn off the money tap. However it must be working as they keep paying for development mmm I wonder if we could get hold of the steam play sales for the top ten steam games (excluding battle eye games)I am not sure what kind of track record you are talking about, that kind of behavior is typical to Google... I am not aware of project that would eat lot of money and got canned (except rushed Steam machines, but that probably didnt cost that much).

Quoting: subHow about releasing the game on Steam - but only for Linux?Haha, I dont think he was even thinking about some nuisances like customers the moment he got the deal, probably salivated profusely being all "Yes, sir" and "No, sir". Prostitutes have better morals.
Maybe this could be negotiated with Epic, as they don't offer support for that platform.
Klei Entertainment hit the restart button on Griftlands, confirmed to come to Linux but Epic Store first

Quoting: rustybroomhandleThis is nice as a tech demo and great as a source reference for developers, but compared to the original, this looks uuuuugly. It's so bright and all the atmosphere has been lost. You can change the time of day in the game to either specific time period (dusk, dawn, noon, evening) or your local time. When I started the game (at night) it was so dark I thought the skybox was bugged because it was just black. The first level outside area was so dark I couldnt see the enemies.

Until Steam Play is treated as a promised (targeted) platform with proper support or at least some kind of responsibility... it will never stop being just a nice crutch to play games we otherwise couldn't. Saying there is no risk is either disingenuous or most likely just naive.
You can now easily run the Epic Store on Linux with Lutris, Epic suggests applying for a grant

Well, hopefully it's gonna be cheap, with Steam they can make money later with people buying VR games. VR needs to be more common to flourish, so it wouldnt make sense to keep it expensive hobby. Price of admission will go down with every VR generation.

Quoting: fubenalvoI actually found two ways to go beyond. One was underneath the Level 13 building (I went around the barrier through the water) and jumped to the lip there is under the building and it warped me into the level and once I left the level I was free. Second one is much easier, I just jumped over the stones that are around the barrier (the left side, near the glass wall behind level 3 cave).Quoting: SolitaryHey, man. Just playing the demo and I managed to get past the "trial ends here" barrier and I am currently playing the later levels. This isn't suppose to happen, is it? :)You run around and a level started when you went under a cave entrance? I'm just fixed this in the v0.91. It will be public in 1-2 days. ...or you find anything else? :)

Quoting: fubenalvoHy there! I'm making the game and thought to answer for some questionsHey, man. Just playing the demo and I managed to get past the "trial ends here" barrier and I am currently playing the later levels. This isn't suppose to happen, is it? :)
Soo yeah, the DEMO is really easy, there are much harder levels later, but I tried to make them enjoyable too. not an easy task to make puzzles which are hard enough but not too frustating. You'll tell me I succeseded with it or not :)
We'll see about the price. The top I thinked about is $5, but that will be later at the steam release. The target date is about end of may to publish it on steam. Ofc the version on itch.io will be updated constantly too.
Actually I'm working on versio 0.91 in this moments too, just sought big donation coming from this article, soo big-big thank you for the article and for the greatfull readers too! Thank you guys! :)
