Quoting: Segata SanshiroSeeing this kind of makes me want to give up too.
Well we all know there are mean bullies out there in the world, and some of them are on the internet. Let's hope the ones picking on Liam get bored and leave GOL alone now that Liam has stepped down.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyI've noticed a few people saying to take pride in what he does and ignore the haters, or even in semi-contemptuous tones to suck it up or whatever. This is misguided talk. People aren't all the same; some are simply more affected by hateful discourse than others, just as some are simply more extroverted than others, shyer than others and so forth.
Great post (whole thing though I quoted one point). Completely agree -- no one is obligated to be thick-skinned enough to take unlimited verbal abuse from bullies. If there is no way to shut up the bullies, then people who can't internally filter them will have to find places out of the public eye to exercise their talents.

I didn't notice any of those "just ignore it" commenters volunteering to handle GOL social media and take over the heat btw... but maybe one of those with that opinion really would like to volunteer, since under these conditions it would be valuable to have a thick-skinned person handling the GOL social media!

Quoting: DaveAI'm new to the site but if the guy that ownsnit isn't giving up control, I believe the community should start a new site.
If you had been around longer, you'd probably understand why it's worth keeping Liam part of the community, even if out of the limelight so that random mean people on the internet will forget about him. If Liam flips out and starts doing stuff detrimental to the site, feel free to suggest moving then... but he has never done anything like that yet, even when depressed.

Dreamfall Chapters Adventure Game Release Date Announced In New Video

Quoting: fleskI really wish I could have gotten through it because I quite liked the story and atmosphere. The awkward combat and stealth elements ruined it for me though and I ended up rage quitting after being attacked by some kind of troll.
That was a very unpopular scene. Fans got the devs to promise not to do anything like that again during the DreamFall Chapters campaign ;)

maybe I thought some of you might duct tape a graphics card to a ARM Raspberry Pi and call it a gaming PC?
lol :D

Dreamfall Chapters Adventure Game Release Date Announced In New Video

Quoting: rick01457I seem to be the only person in the world who didn't like Dreamfall: The longest Journey so I'm dubious as to whether I'll like this one too. I'll probably get it though, because I'm a chump
Was it the story or the awkward controls you didn't care for (or both)?

Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition Now In Beta For Linux, Finally

Quoting: ApopasYou said that unless there is a non Steam version, you'll pass that one and I answered that as far as I know, Beamdog will release a no DRM version through their site.
They do seem to have a non-Steam version, so I think you're right

After Linux is out of beta, they should add a new download page alongside the Mac and Windows ones

GOL World Tour: Linux Gaming From Germany

Quoting: novemberistI wouldn't really say they have mastered it, though. I have yet to play a really convincing new adventure game made in Germany. As much as an old adventure gamer like me appreciates the efforts and dedication of companies like Daedalic, especially the kind of humor in these games just doesn't cut it for me.
What about King Art Games though -- did you not find Book of Unwritten Tales to be a worthy modern adventure?

That reminds me, Deck 13 is also in Germany, and some of their adventure games got native releases during the period when Linux was rather starved for native games, a couple from Anke series and the first Jack Keane. I played Jack Keane when the Linux port came out, and it was decent. Wonder if Deck 13 will get back to doing Linux ports again...

Quoting: BillNyeTheBlackGuyStill not interested until I get my mods to work, but this is a nice first step. :D
What mods?
BG is a 16 year old game with a community that's still modding today. It would be impossible to list all the mods available.
Sorry, I should have been more specific. What did you refer to as "my mods" that you consider so critical that you're not interested in playing till they work?

Edit: actually "what mods" was altogether poorly worded, I really meant "which mods"
