Quoting: LakortaWhile they're not as committed as other companies (e.g. Valve) to supporting Linux (see GoG Galaxy) they do support Linux (During the "pay a few bucks and get a random game" they gave refunds to Linux users if they got a Windows game. There are also several reports of them helping developer porting or packaging their games for Linux). Also I do respect their stance on DRM. So I wish them all the best, would be sad if they had to close their store.
Scale of budgets though Valve has billions they can throw at any project and never ending money tree and near domination of the pc gaming market and their comittment to Linux is a self preservation one not for a love of linux, in case MS brings back the embrace extend extinguish policy again. CDPR operating budget for gog is probably less than a 1/4 spends on linux.

Quoting: scaineEAC compatibility is the last big milestone, at least for the games I want to play - games like Vermintide 2, Strange Brigade and Paladins.

Overwatch will do me nicely for the moment however.
there is a lot to do.

DX11 will die with win7 (i know win7 will die slowly) and DXVK will be useless for new games. the next big milestone for valve is, to make developers use VULKAN and of course fix the uplay and other 3rd party launcher things
With the exception that games studios still make games that use direct x 9 features.

The number of Linux gamers on Steam continues to grow, according to Valve

I am glad more people are trying out linux we need more titles to sustain that growth but for right now Linux has either the native games i play or have near or good enough windows performance. If valve stay true to that and continue to fund dxvk and proton/wine develoment and the news that valve are talking to battleye people to get a work around for steam play good times ahead.

Valve is getting back to focusing on gaming, with non-gaming videos being retired

Quoting: GuestVery nice, less crap to clutter the store. Maybe visual novels can be next? :P
Oh if you ban the fap games you'll get the extreme nerd rage from people claiming they have deep narrative strength and gameplay.

The first Steam Play update for this year is out with Proton 3.16-7 beta

I wonder if the UPlay fixes will allow Watchdogs 2 to work!
Assassin's Creed II still can't install -- I mean, it gets stuck at the disk space allocation phase, before uplay can even do anything. Weird.
AC2 lutris script works i used it less than three days ago, there is are some graphics options that youll need to turn off in order to make it full screen but they are things like motion blue which makes me heave when its on anyway but you're mileage may vary.

The war of the PC stores is getting ugly, as Metro Exodus becomes a timed Epic Store exclusive

Quoting: lejimsterI used to be a big Epic fan all the way back to Epic Pinball and Jazz Jackrabbit through to UT2004. Then they quickly lost me as they branched out.

I don't have a problem with them providing their own store, but they don't care about Linux, say what you want about Valve... But they have gone above and beyond to support Linux and made it an actual alternative to Windows.

I won't be buying anything off Epics store unless they become Linux friendly.
I just cant see it happening the updates to the unreal engine trickle onto the linux build and support is nowhere near as good as it is on windows. Epic back catalogue as you said is impressive Jazz the pinball games and unreal but Gears was good but they did a good job getting a good price from ms because the story had nowhere to go after gears 3. They sold Bulletstorm and Shadow complex was okay but there main game is really not for me if it werent for the engine i wouldnt care about them at all
