It looks really clean, but after seeing games like Dusk and Prodeus (which is out in just over two weeks!), I'm afraid that "clean" feels more like "bland" in this case. Not much sense of gun feedback in the video. I doubt I'll pick this up, tbh. Unless reviews prove me wrong.

I'm looking forward to playing this, but not buying it until they (or you lovely people) confirm that it's all good in Linux land. Such a shame. I expected better from Frictional. As others have noted, their games have always been playable from day one on Linux and there's really not many devs you can say that of. Even fantastic devs like Klei, who I love, have very patchy and uneven support, especially during their development process.
My experiences of Valve's VR on Linux

I re-installed Mint last week after a torrid two weeks on Manjaro. Manjaro's VR experience was okay, but other elements forced me back to Mint.
On Mint 20, although I entered the various commands for dependencies that I list in this article, I noticed that a lot of them are now already there. Presumably this tallies with a lot of people earlier telling me that their experience on 20.04 was pretty seamless. Now that Mint 20 is based from that, I'm finding it much more streamlined.
As for the VR experience, I know what you mean about the flashing. I think it's the equivalent of shader compiling as I only notice it when the game starts up, as you describe. It lasts under a second, but it's noticeable. Can't compare it to Windows as I haven't used that O/S for over 7 years now.
If you haven't already, check out my Forum post on how to remotely turn on/off your Lighthouses. It could use a few more people trying it out, I think. Some folk have struggled, while other are working perfectly. It worked for me perfectly on both Manjaro and Mint, so I think the issues people face are actually older VR hardware. Just a hunch though, still too few people replying on that thread to know for sure.
And I liked the earlier suggestion that we create a WIKI page for this stuff. I'll get round to that eventually, as my knowledge of this stuff grows.
VR is a incredible experience though, for sure. Games like Elite:Dangerous and Overload (in Proton) are incredible. I love it.

Steam Play Proton 5.13-1 Linux compatibility layer up and ready for testing

I think you can still install mf-install into such a container, but no idea what results you'll get.

Quoting: ShinyaOsenAll the blazblue games now launch video doesnt work in any of them. Calamity trigger and Continuum shift extended have a resolution problem on first launch but you can still see and get to the option menu to fix it. I cant get MF plat to install for some reason to get video in Centralfiction, the rest of the games use quartz from what i could find.MF-Install is deprecated now, it's replaced by non-patent infringing work in Wine itself. ProtonGE has backported that work for a while, but Proton 5.13 is the first official version to include the new libraries.

I got onto the beta testing for this and my sole suggestion was taken on board (the targets used to rush in, then slow down as they neared their "perfect" shooting point, which jarred against the general rhythm mechanic), so I'm delighted! Despite that, I didn't play much and I'm looking forward to picking this up and experimenting a bit further.
The whole VR rhythm game mechanic has certainly been done before in games like Beat Saber, Synth Riders and Pistol Whip, but this is its own beast and as a Linux native game, I hope it does well.

Quoting: bekoHaha! I'm waaaaay too lazy to build my own launcher that hooks into OBS via websocket! Interesting though, I had no idea OBS was so easy to integrate with other platforms. Well, I say easy... well beyond my skillset.Quoting: scaineYeah I... know? Like I said, I wish you could set it up in silent mode, and automatically start the replay buffer. Right now, you have start OBS, then press "start replay buffer". I'm just being lazy!Do you know about obs-websocket [External Link]? This may scratch your itch. Afair that's used by e.g. http://touch-portal.com/ [External Link]

Then I could just hotkey "moments" throughout the day, whether that's a game moment, or a Zoom call. There is a replay buffer on OBS you can even keybind it for that exact use, it is like Shadowplay or Relive just with OBS on linux/multiplatform.
I'd still need a way to share them, but it's not the end of the world to do a quick manual youtube upload.

Yeah, as wvstolzing notes, you can still do the virtual camera on Linux, you just need to install v4l2loopback and the obs-v4l2sink. It's a bit fiddly to get working, true, but it's a tick box thereafter, which is really nice.

Just a note to the above comment, HP have recently announced that their Z-series laptops, workstations, etc, will support Ubuntu and there will be options on selected models to pre-load 20.04. Feels like the whole industry has a little bit of momentum around this. Hopefully it continues to build.
