Quoting: scaineMS fanbois desperate to re-enforce their Helsinki syndrome.
I think you mean Stockholm syndrome. They're our neighbours, but they can keep their icky syndromes.
You made me look it up, since I definitely meant Helsinki Syndrome. Turns out, they're pretty much one and the same... except that Helsinki Syndrome doesn't actually exist. Confused? Helsinki Syndrome was a (joke) reference to Stockholm Syndrome in the movie Die Hard.

Several google searches turned up evidence that Helsinki Syndrome is now accepted as a term, but the "medical" definition of where the captee/abused starts to sympathise with their captor/abuser... you're right, it's Stockholm Syndrome.

Every day is a school day, eh?

Quoting: DuncThat's... ambitious. But then so was reverse-engineering Morrowind in the first place. Good luck to them. I just hope it doesn't distract from the main goal.
What main goal? Pretty sure they've pretty much nailed Morrowind. Fully playable, shadows are back... not sure what's left! It's been a while since I looked at their roadmap though.

I don't think there's much evidence to support your view Sub. Even the anti-Linux brigade tends to be the same old names cropping up over and over, MS fanbois desperate to re-enforce their Helsinki syndrome.

Plus, if Valve were doing to give this up, we'd have seen some sort of evidence of that before six years flew by.

I also fervently hope you're wrong! :D

Quoting: slaapliedjeThey don't need to sell video content to get the living room feeling, just have some netflix/amazon prime/etc 'apps' in SteamOS/Big picture mode.

I bought Conman through Steam, otherwise yeah never bothered with their other videos.
I suspect this is a (or another) reason that Steam devices didn't really take off. Playstation and Xbox both allow Netflix, Spotify and others on their consoles. Why would you buy a SteamPC that doesn't support any of that. Pretty ridiculous.

Quoting: GuestHesitating... Should I try to complete Dungeon Master on my Amiga (MiSTer FPGA) or this one or the former then the latter ?
Ha, so I actually started playing Dungeon Master on my Amiga (A4000 w/68060) quite some time ago, I need to finish it off (re-installed the 3.1.4 over the weekend, now just need to get WHDload set up).

While I beat DM on my Atari ST back in the day, I never did complete Chaos Strikes Back. So my plan is to complete DM again, and then import my characters into Chaos Strikes Back.
I loved Dungeon Master. I completed it. Completed it again. Completed it with 3 characters. Completed with 2 characters (oh my, they become godlike by the end) then finally gave up while trying to beat it with one character. The spell cooldowns were too difficult to manage in certain fights and you just don't put out enough sword damage as a single character.

Bloodwych was another favourite - I played that split-screen with a friend on his Atari ST. Two, four-character parties rocking around a massive dungeon. Awesome.

Finally, if you like this genre and have three (very) close friends, the Amiga version of Hired Guns was sublime because you each played one character in a party of four, quad-screen. Two characters played on mouse (the Amiga could handle two mice plugged in) and two on keyboard. Amazing. Great music too!

Quoting: TcheyI'd probably love to love this game, but the real time killed my will. I disliked the Grimrocks for the same reason. For me, this kind of games (RPG grid based crawlers) "must" be turn based. The last one to actually pleased me was Starcrawlers, who did many things "well" (but failed to provide a "less combat, more xp" option).
Maybe you should try Fall of the Dungeon Guardians. Great game, lovely visuals, really tactical and difficult fights but with a pause-at-any-time mechanic. I think you can even set it up to a full pause-after-each-round if you like. I think... been a while I played.

With a clear inspiration from Portal, the first-person puzzler HA/CK is out now

the heavy Portal inspiration is crystal clear
You do know that there is a very large genre now called "first-person puzzle" games? Yes, they were largely inspired by Portal at the beginning, but we don't always refer to Castlevania when reviewing metroidvania games these days...
We kind of very much do refer to Castlevania when referring to those games. And Metroid. You know, hence the name?

Maybe we need a new genre mashup here. Portal and Castlevania, portalvania. Boom. Antichamber was portalvania. Inspired by Portal, but with progression elements from Castlevania.

Another game still pending is We Happy Few.
Good shout. I'd happily buy both when they're available.

Quoting: ArehandoroThe Witcher 3 and why did I wait so much to play it. It will still last me a good couple of moths though :D
The Witcher 2 put me off The Witcher 3. Having to drink potions before certain fights to have any chance of success is just a horrible gameplay mechanic. Well, that and all the mixed messages from CDPR about whether we were getting a Linux native build. Or was it mixed messages? I remember Valve "announced" it, that was retracted of course, but did CDPR ever say anything on the matter?

So yeah. They're not on my "don't buy" list or anything, but there are so many better developers (for Linux) that I'd rather spend my money on that even years after its release, I've never felt the urge to go there.

Quoting: SpykerActually, I'm playing Prey (2017) through Proton, and it's a fantastic game.
The gameplay, the level design, the story, it has everything.
To me, it's the best solo story-driven FPS I've played since Bioshock Infinite.
I'd love to buy/play that, but it's still got Denuvo on it and there's a DRM line I don't cross.

I've been playing Dying Light on Steam Play - performance is indeed off the charts compared to the native build, so that's like a whole new game. It's superb.

I've also been playing a HUUUGE amount of 7 Days to Die. I'm level 45 and they're throwing the ferals at me with some regularity now. Luckily, I have my shotgun for those moments of sheer panic!

Otherwise, I played a bit of Guns of Icarus. Great game, just needs more players. You need to be patient in the lobby, sadly.

And I've been playing an hour or so of Overwatch most evenings, with GOLs Buenaventura. Fair to say we're both addicted to that game.
