Book of Demons no longer getting a native Linux port, developer plans on 'supporting' Steam Play (updated)

I just can't bring myself to buy a windows-only title, which is a shame, because I love the look of this. I've made one exception in the past five years - Doom. And I only bought that during the hype of Steam Play a few months back! I've played 80 minutes of it. It's good, but I regret the purchase.

I realise that I don't have much buying "power" with the tux-then-bucks mantra, but it really sums up how I feel.

That said, I am signed up to Humble Monthly, so I'll get a handful of windows-only titles "for free" that way and that's about the only way Steam Play will really affect me.

Oh, and Mirv's comment that this ties Linux support to Steam. That's not good. That's really, really not good.

Unsung Warriors, an upcoming 2D action-adventure has a free prologue available and it's pretty good

This is absolutely superb. There's about 45 minutes of gameplay on there for free and it's just an extremely satisfying game to play.

@cprn: Installing Itch takes like a minute and works very like Steam (find a game, click install, click play). You won't regret it for gems like this and the upcoming Gravity Ace game. Not to mention Dicey Dungeons and various other lovelies.

The next updates to the MMO Albion Online actually sound really good

Meh. Bought this genuinely believing that the PvE was worthwhile. And in beta, it was. But no more and I've no appetite to go back to the game with such focus on PvP.

Not sure if that statement is really true when you're writing at least one such article every week as of late.
Examples? I'm only aware of Rust, which was a couple of months back? At least one article a week?? What am I missing...?

I never thought this day would come. :)

Seriously though, looks like a bit of fun. Might be one I pitch to the kids!

Actually there is a short presentation here on GoL : https://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/vintage-story-a-beautiful-survival-and-building-game-on-linux.12737
So there is! It's not like me to not read literally every single article on this site... but October has been pretty challenging for me - lots of personal stuff going on (mostly good - birthdays and suchlike) and I've overlooked this one.

Quoting: TcheyIf you like Minecraft, you should watch "Vintage Story". I'm playing it this month, and it's really nice. It offers some similarities of course, but more depth, more survival, slower progression, different features. I didn't feel addict to a game like this since Minecraft-pre-success (it was still in alpha i think when i played last time, before the big boom).
I'd never heard of Vintage Story. Fully brand new engine, cross platform, fully-realised game world. Looks pretty goddam amazing. And only 10 pounds/euros... very enticing. I might have to dip into this a bit.

Maybe you're thinking of Hack 'n' Slash or else Heart.Break()?

Both were very good games, and this one looks very interesting too.
No, it was first person. Thank you for the recommendations though. I'll add these to "Da' List"
That would be Glitchspace, which is now free: https://store.steampowered.com/app/290060/Glitchspace/ [External Link]
Unless it's this one, that I was thinking of when I watched that trailer:

Dunno if it's really worth £15, but I really enjoyed the game. Recommended.

Quoting: g000hWell, I've been playing demanding titles like Shadow Warrior 2 (Wine), Serious Sam 3 BFE, Killing Floor 2 (Proton/Wine), RUST, Dying Light, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Tomb Raider (2013), Mad Max, Skyrim (Proton/Wine), 7 Days To Die, Blades of Time (Proton/Wine), Dead Island Definitive Edition, Immortal Redneck, Ziggurat, Hitman - all at 4K.
Curious that you got KF2 to work in Proton/Wine? I bought the game on sale to give it a shot, but ran into this bug [External Link], which resets all perks to zero at the end of earning any experience. I refunded it on the same day I bought it, with 45 minutes played.

If it weren't for that bug, I'd still be playing it right now - great performance and no visual issues at all that I could see. The game played perfectly... it just threw away all my experience at the end of each run.

Are you playing online? And if so... how?
