SteamWorld Dig 2 to release on Steam with Linux support on September 22nd
14 Sep 2017 at 8:01 pm UTC

The original Dig didn't do much for me, but I'm currently playing Heist and it's absolutely superb! I'll be looking into this one, for sure. I might revisit the first Dig too since Heist has pretty much blown me away.

One of Valve's choices of games to highlight for Steam Machines is more than a little silly

It kills me that they're charging £50 for this pile of mud. It was overpriced at £22. I'll pass.

The Frostbite engine apparently has partial Linux support but that doesn’t mean we’ll get ports anytime soon

I would buy EA and Ubisoft titles in a heartbeat if it weren't for Origin and uPlay. Even if EA launch origin tomorrow and bring us their Frostbite games... I don't know. I'd be torn. Torn between sticking them the finger and supporting my beloved Linux platform.

I'd love to say I wouldn't buy and I'd just hope that others did. But that kind of mentality landed us Brexit and Trump, so maybe I'd bite my tongue and buy at least one title. Maybe.

(For the avoidance of doubt, I did vote, not for Brexit and if I could have voted for Hilary, I would have. Just, you know, clearing that up.)

Cracking game, quite addictive. I sank more hours into than I expected and this could well send me back to play a bit more. Nice.

Immortal Redneck patched to increase performance, add Polish language and more

Really enjoying this one - I got it yesterday when I noticed that the GOL livestream was going to feature it and I couldn't believe I'd missed an FPS for Linux!

It's like a 3D Rogue Legacy. And if you read that sentence without immediately wanting to buy this game, you have no soul.

Planet Nomads drops plans to have co-op and multiplayer
3 Sep 2017 at 8:00 am UTC

I'm pretty gutted about this. I was assuming it was multiplayer and looking forward to buying a four pack for my son's and I. I can't get excited by this title now. I realise that Planet Nomads (Nomad now, I suppose?) Is shaping up to be a better title than Skybreak, but that's a good example of how empty and lonely a survival title is when it's just you.

TINY METAL, a "spiritual successor" to Advance Wars has plans for a Linux version
3 Sep 2017 at 7:52 am UTC

Advance Wars was (and still is) a masterpiece. If this honours the mathematics of that title and gets its balance right, it going to be an absolute classic and I'll buy it immediately. But if they throw some RNG in there, it'll be ridiculed as a faithless clone. Time will tell!

Nanobang, Advance Wars is a Nintendo-only strategy game with a cartoon style and brilliant singleplayer campaign. It's almost chess-like in the precise way that units interact. Indeed a whole side game you could play ran like 'how can you win in 10 moves?' puzzles.

Advance Wars was amazing.

And if you like a bit of RNG in a fantasy setting, the incredible Fire Emblem series are well worth checking out. Very different mechanics, but awesome stories and characterisations.

Better late than never, GOG now has the Linux version of Dust: An Elysian Tail

Quoting: elbuglioneStop GOG support, they are NOT Linux friendly.

On they words, Linux is "not a priority"

Looks like GOG Galaxy won't come to Linux any time soon, as it's "not a priority"

I told you...
So, this isn't the first time you've posted about this - you're about as hostile towards GOG as you claim they are towards Linux.

So, just to get this straight... you'd rather that they didn't sell Linux games at all? You'd rather than there was one less store in the world selling Linux titles?

And if so, what does that accomplish? Or more directly, how does GOG being picky about the games they sell and the technologies they support actually hurt Linux?

Sure, I don't buy from them because Steam is more convenience, but it's awesome that they sell Linux games, in my opinion. I'd prefer that they supported every game, but I realise it's not possible. And I'd love it if they brought Galaxy out, but that's a business decision and it's great that they still sell Linux titles.

Where's all the hate coming from?

Albion Online set to expand with some large updates planned
28 Aug 2017 at 7:02 pm UTC Likes: 4

I was so excited for Albion and enjoyed the beta, but now that they've launched, I'm already pretty burnt out by the game. Progression is slower due to the number of people harvesting, and everyone who actually enjoys the game is in a big guild focused on blackzone zergs. Which I couldn't care less about.

A lot of the markets are horribly saturated too, which makes progression via farming (either farming in dungeons, or farming on your island - "real" farming) pretty lacklustre. During the beta, I was making good money doing that, but now I just really horde everything because there's no point putting it on the market.

It all feels like a grind. I haven't played in over two weeks. Even worse, of course, is that my founder "premium" status is being wasted as a result. If I do decide to dip my toes in again later, I'd probably have to buy gold again to get the most out of it... but I'm not likely to do so, given that unless they add more PVE content, I'm not likely to stick with it.

It's all just extremely disappointing.
