Quoting: liamdaweEh? I've posted 3 articles that could be classed as guides this entire month. One last month, and before that the last was November 2016.

Respectfully, I completely disagree.
Eh? I said oversaturated with "non news", and that "this one" was a guide.
I counted 6 "non news" articles just on the first page.
6 in the front page? I had to go back to Feb 15th to find the last one, about how to find Linux releases on Steam. What are you terming 'non-news'?

Regardless, I like the mix, so maybe Liam's suggestion of changing the site to allow filerting by tag will keep everyone happy.
If he talk about TUTO, BUYPRICE & EXPERIENCE posts, i would say theses :

Your definition of news is very... focused. Certainly a long way from my own, if you don't consider reviews or sales as being worthy of inclusion on the front page. Here's hoping you get your filters - you might consider supporting Liam's Patreon and asking for such a feature directly, although he has certainly already mentioned it in this thread anyway.

The Dark Mod, the free stealth game inspired by Thief is looking to get on Steam

Quoting: g000hWith these various 'currently free' games coming to Steam, e.g. The Dark Mod, QueToo, maybe others - I hope two things continue:

1) The game stays a free game.
2) The game is still available as a non-Steam DRM-free installer package (for people who prefer not to use Steam).

Fair enough if you monetise a brand new game, but taking an already-free game and then converting it to a paid-for game is "not on"
I'm not actually convinced I agree. The sheer amount of work that's been put into this, I think it's great that the devs can make a decision like this. The only time moving to a paid model feels off is when another dev tries to take free content and monetise it. Or when one dev from a large team tries to take credit for a large project team's previous efforts.

Nothing, at all, in this life, is free. Even altruistic endevours like this have to be hosted on servers, bandwidth and websites paid for. Someone is incurring all that cost and they absolutley have a right to ask for money in those circumstances.

These guys are doing it a great way though - much like Tales of Maj'Eyal, a paid product you can buy for convenience and extras, and the free games hosted for as long as they can using the existing website.

Best of luck to them. I'd love to play this more, so this move is very welcome.

The developers of Heavy Gear Assault say that supporting Linux is a 'top concern'

Quoting: dudiblahBeen waiting on this game, would love to fire it up and test some stuff. Alas there is no version to do so yet. Looks like a wonderful game though. What do the frame rates look like?
It seems to be available on Steam right now? What do you mean, "no version to do so"?

I don't do EA these days, but their EA description talks about a release in December this year, so that's Christmas sorted! I loved the original MechWarrior series and cried a bitter tear of regret when I saw that Microsoft had picked up the IP. Gutted. So this is a must-buy for me. Looking forward to it!

Looks like Killing Floor 2 may be coming to Linux from Knockout Games
6 Feb 2017 at 11:29 pm UTC

Quoting: CorbenHmm... now the Killing Floor 2 entry on Aaron's Website [External Link] has been replaced by Flywrench.
Looks like Tripwire didn't like that he had this entry on his website.
I hope this didn't cause any trouble.

edit: oh, also the tweet [External Link] got deleted.
Flywrench and N++ were there before, but yeah, he's deleted KF2. Might not be bad news as such, just that TW didn't want him "revealing" the possibility of a port before they're ready.

Would be a shame if they've really canned their interest in a Linux version. They spoke about Linux at length back in their 2014 announcement and they've taken a lot of heat on the forums since when they lost their sole Linux developer. To the point that you can't actually comment on threads on Steam's Killing Floor 2 pages unless you own the game. Nice way to shut up annoying Linux users from moaning about a lack of port!

Fingers crossed, but I pretty much scratched this off my wishlist last year. It would be a lovely surprise if it comes our way, but I'm not holding my breath!

Provided it's a decent quality port, I'd definitely pick this up. It might be a forlorn hope, as it's had a rough ride through Early Access, but if there's a hope that it grabs me like the first one did, then I'd have many hundreds of happy hours ahead of me playing this. It would fill the void that PayDay 2 left when I realised that their voice chat would never be fixed and I gave up on playing it any further (and funny to think that they're still punting DLC at their player base... sigh)

Lifeless Planet Premier Edition, a third-person action-adventure is now available for Linux

Excellent! Been waiting for news of this since a positive note from the developer back in March last year. Great stuff - will purchase this weekend and give it a whirl.

Quoting: boltronicsI wasn't looking for a debate. You're hassling. It seems you don't even recognize that you're doing it.

We're done here.
Well, I thought I was engaging, not hassling, personally. However, to be clear, my sincerest apologies - it wasn't my intention to get on your case. It seems I've overreacted to your comments to Liam.

As I said, we're all humans typing these comments and a lot is lost in the written word. Sorry again.

Suspect the answer might be obvious but... what's FCE?
Fortresscraft evolved or http://store.steampowered.com/app/254200 [External Link] on steam. I love openworld and I love building. Fortresscraft really suits both. At first it might seem a bit blocky, but once you get the hang of it... It's advanced automation and still 3D first-person. And the maker (single guy) is always live streaming his work and his 2 cats.
My most played games are probably mad-max, ark: survival, SR 3, planet explorer and this beauty. And sometimes TIS-100.
The depth of FCE (thanks!) actually ended up putting me off! I sank in about 20 hours or so, experimenting with various maps and methods. The fact that the combustion engines don't work below a certain point was really infuriating, the cold caverns killed me too quickly, finding Lithium took, literally, hours. So it's a bit of a learning curve.

After getting to know it a bit better, doing proper research for suit heaters and so on, fighting off a few waves successfully, building the giant spider robot, having working lines for coal, iron, bronze, tin, lithium, gold... I thought I was doing okay. I was chuffed. Then I looked at some videos online and realised that I was only about 1% into the game (if that!). The complexity and depth is absolutely astonishing, but I just don't have that kind of time to kill. In the end, I had to draw a line under it and move on. Amazing game though.

I might give Factorio a go when it launches, but from the sounds of it, it's the same game, but in 2D...
