The Reason Some Games Are Delayed For Linux In Humble Indie Bundles
21 Feb 2014 at 11:41 pm UTC

I'm with Liam too. Humble values took a nosedive after their acquisition and now even the HiB is giving Linux short shrift. It's great that they started the ball rolling, but now Linux appears to be an afterthought for them.

The more those standards slip, the more the slider to the left for the Humble Tip. I gave $35 for the last bundle, a little more than usual, but I slid it down to two dollars on the Tip for two reasons - Antichamber wasn't on Steam, Giana was dropped.

I've subsequently had Antichamber crash to desktop a couple of times too, the resolution support is flaky and the screen tear is pretty bad - seems like a rush job.

I love Antichamber, and I'm delighted that I can play it on Linux, but if this is folk's first impression of the game under Linux, they're not going to love it as much as me. I wish the Humble guys would have polished it up instead of releasing it half-assed.

Kingdom Rush Tower Defence Game Looking For Linux Testers
21 Feb 2014 at 11:32 pm UTC

Quoting: GuestIt’s a good game but it has been freely available for years in a Flash version… http://armorgames.com/play/12141/kingdom-rush [External Link]
Yeah, the flash version wasn't balanced very well. Pretty basic and easy. The Android version on the other hand - woah. Super hard. Hopefully they've found a bit of balance with this one.

It's a great TD game and Linux needs more TD. The world needs more TD!

Humble Indie Bundle 11 Is Out With The Swapper, Antichamber & More

Quoting: MagevaniaI can't see the steam logo, does this bundle 11 come with the Steam keys?
See my earlier post for details. They come with keys, but don't all have Linux available on Steam.

Antichamber on Linux. I'm a happy man. So, so happy. Dust is a superb platformer - sank many hours into that one. The rest is icing, I'll get round to them eventually.

Dust, Swapper, Monaco and Guacamelee seem to be available on Steam. Hopefully they'll get Antichamber on there soon. Bizarre decision to include Giana.

The Novelist Linux Version Released

Bought this, as I remember being interested when it was released for Windows. Great news. Only problem is that Jagged Alliance just released too, now I've bought both. Dilemma! Which to play first...?

Just spent a half-house on this. Really, really good. Not normally my cup of tea, so I doubt I'll chalk up too many hours, but definitely worth a look.

Linux Game Sales Statistics From Multiple Developers Part 2
12 Feb 2014 at 8:55 am UTC

Quoting: FutureSuture
Quoting: philip550cI'm pretty sure they were implying they would be going Windows only.
Quoting: GuestThat's exactly what they're saying by not supporting 'multiple platforms'....
Not singling out Linux there.

That's worrisome considering what the other developers were saying, especially Chris Simpson from The Indie Stone.
I agree, but I don't see how losing nearly a quarter of your sales can be a viable proposition for anyone. If Harvest only sold 10 thousand units, that's £60k gross. So Mac/Linux account for £15k of gross sales. So I wonder what it "costs" to support multiple platforms. But £15k will buy a couple of decent Macs and PCs to run the O/S and have plenty spare for any required additional licenses for your game engine. But not enough to pay a wage to a dedicated support role for those platforms.

Perhaps they've been bitten by especially poor ports to Mac & Linux, which perhaps generated lots of support. I'd like to think that this is an unusual story.

Steam's January 2014 Hardware Survey Has a Linux Drop
3 Feb 2014 at 3:01 pm UTC

I doubt the sample size is big enough to draw conclusions about a 0.3 percentage point swing. However, if I were to jump to conclusions, I'd suggest that folk are getting weary waiting for CS:GO and Portal2 to come across. There's typically 100K players on CS:Go a day. That's 100K players who aren't interested in Linux. Only Dota2 is a bigger game for Steam users.

I know I'm weary. I'm dying to play Stanley Parable...

Space Hulk Strategy Game Linux Beta Test Is Open

Just grabbed it! Couldn't care less about the reviews - I've been a Warhammer 40k fan for a while so I tend to bias these games upwards by quite a margin.

Best to use the Humble Store. At $30, it works out at £18.65, which is a pint of lager and a packet of crisps cheaper than buying it on Steam directly (£23). And of course, you still get a steam key with the Humble purchase.

I'll try it out at the weekend - won't get a chance before then.
