Wow, it's consistently had 800-1500 players every month for it's (considerable) shelf life!

I suppose the performance thing is cool, but the bit of CachyOS I love is that it integrates snapper into grub seamlessly, so if you break your system (say, an aberrant Arch update), you just reboot into an earlier snapshot and you've learned your lesson. Takes all the pressure off the fact it's Arch. Or being an idiot like me and constantly experimenting with stuff and breaking things.
I'd like them to include ChaoticAUR by default, like Garuda does, but it's straightforward enough to add manually. If you haven't used ChaoticAUR before, it's a precompiled version of the AUR - very fast, because it acts like any other Arch source. No waiting around for AUR compiles.
My next challenge with CachyOS is integrating the boot with TPM, so I don't have to manually unlock my disks at startup. If that's successful, I don't think I'll be distro-hopping for a long, long time.

This kind of innovation is what got me into Linux in a big way in the late-2000's. I'd been pottering about with it since 2005, but when Compiz landed properly - maybe around 2007/2008, with Beryl and Emerald themes, suddenly Linux was just... cool! Wobbly windows, spinning cubes, fires consuming windows, genie effects when minimising. It was awesome.
I'm convinced that Compiz was why Microsoft launched that abomination, Vista, with it's exceedingly Emerald-like "glass theme" and a very familiar looking alt-tab animation!
Anyway, this project gives me the vibe. Obviously, it'll be less impactful, needing a VR headset to work, but it's still just incredibly sci-fi. I love it.
(p.s. I still use wobbly windows today, although the fire effect has been replaced by the "old tv turning off" effect, and I don't need a cube anymore, cos 4K screen mean I only need two surfaces. but it's still cool!)

Wine 11 for Win 11. Incredible work from the team - the rate of progress just doesn't feel like it's ever let up since they moved to more a formal release schedule.

JC3 came out in 2015, which makes me feel old.
Considered picking this up to try out the latest one, which came out in 2018... but it's encumbered with Denuvo. Oh well.

Bungie just continues to not want my money. The absolute hundreds I'd have spent on Destiny 2 by now if they'd just ticked the "Linux on BattleEye" box.
Bizarre, but I've come to terms with their attitude now and I've had their creator page ignored for quite some time.
Feel feel to "ignore creator" with me by visiting their page and hitting the settings cog at the top right. It's quite cathartic!

Valve tweak Steam AI disclosure form for developers to clarify it's for content consumed by players

It'll never be 100% of course, but generally, it doesn't have to be. If people get through the big blocks, they'll know they're crossing the line because our policies are pretty robust, simple to follow and clearly articulated. And we reinforce those policies with blogs, quarterly modular training and annual compliance attestations, and a security champions programme.
If they're willing to risk their career to use a bespoke, uncategorised, Chinese AI, that's on them.

Quoting: EikeAnd you admins know all Chineese or Turkmenish AI services...?Nah, but we use a next-gen firewall from a top provider and they have multi-level web categorisation that allows us to block at various levels of aggressiveness. Will it catch them all? Nope, of course not, but that's why we do Shadow-IT monitoring. Once you've closed the big doors, your Shadow-IT initiatives can start focusing on the gaps and cracks in the wall.
Negative filters don't work.
Positive filters are to restrictive to do development with in the first place.

Maybe Devs can still get around this with their phones on 5G, say, but retyping all that code would be tedious. They still get to use genAI sadly, but at least it's not dodgy services that will use query and query history to build future models.

*edit*That's pretty straightforward with firewall filtering. At my work, we block everything except the two or three services we have strong legal agreements with.
And how would the company even know if their game contains AI generated code? Surveillance of all their developers? Strong filters in the office? What about working in home office...?

Quoting: BrokattOof, haha! I mean, it's literally the first line of this article, but I can see how you overlooked it!! I wasn't aware it was a time-limited beta either, and my mate was like "the co-op is gone!" in early January! At least it's only a week away now! Still a great game single-player, but definitely lends itself to a multi-player playthrough, it's so much more fun, especially when you're building out your townhouse (whichever one you end up buying) in Sacrament!Quoting: scaineI discovered this game by accident just before Christmas, a couple of days into the co-op beta, and me and my three mates played it for over 50 hours over the Christmas period.I was so inspired by your post that I bought it and convinced my friend to buy it. Turns out the co-op beta has ended 😆 We just have to wait until release on 22/1 😀
It's absolutely stunning. My Steam review goes into detail, but basically, even in early access, this game has launched itself into my (ever-changing) Top Ten Games of All Time.
I'm a sucker for fantasy RPGs, but the way they mix meaty combat, progression, and puzzles is sublime. The graphics and animations are simply five-star too. Incredible game.
