Soulstone Survivors a great Vampire Survivor-like has a huge skill tree upgrade

Quoting: dOwN_lOaDGood gameplay for this type of game, very good difficulty, but if you do the upgrades the wrong way, shit..
A great time pass!
You can re-roll them
True, and although I haven't played it for a few months, doesn't this one let you "banish" upgrades you don't want? It makes getting the right build much more feasible than certain other horde-survival games.

We may see Counter-Strike 2 release next week

Quoting: Purple Library GuyI guess if they switched it to "x.com" that would cause the apocalypse (or at least the Enemy Unknown).
They do own x.com sadly. But the core sharing mechanic still uses Twitter. I was laughing to see that Google doesn't acknowledge the name change either - they still show "trending from twitter" on their searches.

Honestly, I don't think anyone should ever actually name the service anymore. Just "this person announced on social media", and then screenshot the announcement. Job done. No having to say "this person on X (Twitter)" or decide which name to use.

Unity apologises for the new runtime fee, say they will make changes

Well, it did indeed update. The Godot fund is now sitting at £47881/month, with 1343 contributors. And another $10K/month from the old Patreon fund.

Incredible. Beautiful.

Quoting: MayeulCI also hope that the studios that complained start donating to Godot, at least a token amount.
Huh, so I didn't realise that they'd started their own funding platform, which explains why the patreon contributions are in decline. They're still making $10K/month on Patreon too, but it's on the way down, definitely. I was contributing there and must have missed their announcement that they were setting up on their own. Link is here if you're interested: https://fund.godotengine.org [External Link].

I've cancelled that Patreon now and set a donation up on their own "platform", which is actually just a front-end to a recurring Paypal payment. But doing so gave me the opportunity to double my contribution, so that's something!

That stat above though? It doesn't appear to be changing very regularly as it hasn't moved today at all. Hopefully they'll update it again in a day or so.

Heretic's Fork is an unholy blending of deck-building and tower defense

Heretic's Fork also has leaderboards to let you see how you stack up against your friends. So GamingOnLinux contributor Scaine doesn't know it yet, but we're now officially locked in a battle for who can punish the most sinners. Even if it takes me all night, I will take the crown.
I just wish you'd stop sending me hate-messages on the Steam chat!

Seriously, this is an unbelievably addictive take on the horde-survival genre. And I love the "desktop" environment, complete with silly mini-games and applications to distract you between runs. Great fun. Brilliant presentation on the whole thing.

Toaplan Arcade Shoot 'Em Up Collection Vol.2 definitely delivers

Good god! Hardly anyone knows about Slap Fight, what a game! I could make 20p last an hour in the 80's on this. But the cabinet was right next to 720° so there was always that temptation. And Twin Eagle at the back with it's rendered-looking graphics and metal sound track. Good times.

DXVK-NVAPI 0.6.4 out now expanding HDR support

Quoting: StalePopcornGood news for HDR support, very confusing, given the 'NVAPI' naming yet requiring an AMD GPU :dizzy: I'm hoping that HDR is widespread on Linux by this time next year.
Just to be clear, this project is Nvidia only. But you're right that its release notes point out that HDR is currently AMD only. Welcome to the clear-as-mud world of Linux graphics stacks!

Tactical turn-based stealth game Spirited Thief releases September 19

Getting a great Invisible Inc vibe from this, with the vision comes and knockouts. I'll wishlist for sure.

Edit: Aaaaaand... it was already on my wishlist, from 1st Aug. I honestly don't remember seeing it though. Maybe it was a demo that caught my eye during one of the next fest seasons.

Titanfall 2 has a player surge with a huge sale, great on Steam Deck & desktop Linux

Nah, I'll pass
I hear you. I own like 3 EA titles and zero Ubiplay... but if you don't pick this masterpiece up for £2.50, you're missing out.

It's superb. Genuinely amongst the greatest FPS single player campaigns of all time. Fun story, lovely (if underused) time mechanics, epic gunplay, big mechs, cracking graphics, smooth (and huge) level design, excellent voice acting, wall running/parkour. It's just a winner in every way. I wouldn't touch the multiplayer personally, but apparently it's pretty top drawer too.

For £2.50 and the inconvenience of creating a linked account? I buckled like a cheap belt.
