That's a great change. So much much clearer.

I want to try this just to recreate that screenshot in the article! Chaos Engine and Another World. Happy memories right there!

Here's the Steam Deck most played for October 2023

All I've played recently (apart from short games of Noita [External Link] of course), is Inkbound [External Link]. Absolutely amazing multiplayer roguelite from the creators of Monster Train. Highly recommended.

Inkbound is also 25% off until Saturday too.

October 23 Steam Survey: Simplified Chinese rises, Linux and macOS decline

Quoting: scaineThese Simplified Chinese spikes are just noise (to me). Steam isn't explicitly blocked in China, but it's such a grey area, I'd rather filter out the whole country when considering the Linux marketshare globally.
Well, but, if it's so grey-area-almost-blocked, how does Simplified Chinese manage to show up as 45.93% of the total Steam use? That seems like a market chunk big enough it should maybe not be filtered out or treated as noise.

China is a huge important country. And certain other powers' determination to change that situation do not seem likely to work; it is just going to keep on getting more important as time goes on. That's not a judgement of values; it's not about whether I like China or like US dominance better or whatever, I'm just saying that's what is going to happen, unless there's a hot war that goes nuclear and everybody loses. So for Linux people, I think them not using Linux is a Big Deal and likely to get bigger.
I don't disagree. I'm just saying that I, personally, don't care about China's impact on Steam stats. I'd rather not see them.

Devolver Digital acquires ASTRONEER developer System Era Softworks

I never did pick up Astroneer. I think this was one of those slightly bizarre scenarios where, years ago, they said they were "considering" Linux support, but it never happened, so I never bought it. Sad to see yet another acquisition, but as the article notes, at least it's not the likes of <shiver> Microsoft, Embracer or Epic.

October 23 Steam Survey: Simplified Chinese rises, Linux and macOS decline

This should be a part of the article, not a separate DLC comment.
I cantsee this number anywhere either :dizzy: what do you guys do to dig these up!?
The link is the first in the article - GOL's "Steam Tracker". The bottom graph on that page collates all the data as usual, but focuses only on the English language, which gives a (perhaps) more indicative figure of Linux's overall share compared to Win/OSX.

These Simplified Chinese spikes are just noise (to me). Steam isn't explicitly blocked in China, but it's such a grey area, I'd rather filter out the whole country when considering the Linux marketshare globally. And while only focusing on English isn't probably the best way to do so, it's simple and (so far) appears to be giving us a consistent view of overall growth.

That might be possible! By chance, I'm using the same. And I've got something to experiment: Could you try to access GoL via this link for some days?

https://www.gamingonlinux.com/usercp.php

I did that by chance, and get a not logged in message. When I try to log in from there, I' told I'm already logged in. This doesn't happen on desktop, though, so you could give it a try on mobile.
Nope, still all good here. Android 14 (Pixel 5) using Firefox mobile with uBlock Origin.

I'm in the same boat. The short video gave me a slightly uncomfortable head, I'm not interested in enduring hours of gameplay with this one, I'm afraid.

Despite having the option to keep me logged in enabled, I have to relogin every session on my phone. Unlike with the old system.
Odd, first report I've seen and across three browsers and my mobile I'm not seeing the issue.

I would suggest entirely clearing all cookies and session data, everything for GOL in your browser. Possible something got stuck somewhere. If it still keeps happening send all details to the forum as mentioned in the article.

Quoting: gileriI was surprised to not see Liberapay in the donation options, and sure enough, your account seems disabled there.

Is there a reason for not accepting donations there anymore ? Fees are lower, also there is no VAT. I'd love to be able to support GoL though Liberapay if that's an option for you.
Suspect Liam will remember more clearly than I, but I think the problem was that LibrePay was largely anonymous, so there no way to assign attribution. So people were paying, but it was impossible to offer benefits like the "Supporter" tag here on the website, or on the Discord.
