I went to get it, picked up the keys and when I tried to add the key to steam it said I already had it... Ooops... That shows how often I play FPS's. But I did not have the DLC and added that to my steam library.
Not that it matters, the last FPS I truly enjoyed and spent time in was Painkiller... a little over 10 years ago with a machine that was a brand new dual core amd 5000+. That machine was the last windows install that I ever used, I went exclusively to linux after that and the machine still works even though it mostly gathers dust now. The only reason why I never dual-booted and switched to linux on that computer was the motherboard wasn't compatible. a nForce2 chipset iirc. (I had been using linux partially roughly another 10 years before that...)

Quoting: g000hOverlord and Overlord II are nice and cheap. And one of my recent faves, Dungeon Warfare is 50% off.Dungeon Warfare is a cool Tower Defense game. I also recommend it if you enjoy that type of game.

I noticed that Project Highrise is pretty cheap right now as well. ($6.11 US w/extra 10% from monthly)
The problem is that it has no official linux support (but does have linux build threads on Steam.) Those threads have some activity, but does anyone here have it? Does it work ok?

So I started playing HuniePop...
I have added this post to describe the game for people who just don't know... (because the trailer really doesn't show a puzzle game)
As for running on linux, the game has not crashed and it has not lagged at all... even after I have had it in the background while doing other things... (but I do have a good and recent machine; described on my profile)
The puzzle game actually is good. It is a match 3 game... you get bonuses for matching 4 or 5 (or a row and a column at the same time.) It is different than the matching in a game like Bejeweled. You can move a "token" the length of the entire row or column if you want, and that actually makes a significant difference than only moving one square. If you don't adapt your gameplay to the entire row mechanic, you will be at a disadvantage when you need to score high.
(The only game I ever played with a similar mechanic before was The Queens Jewels [External Link] (warning requires flash) and that was different in that it was a circular playing grid instead of a square one.
In HuniePop, you try to date 8 different women. You talk to them, ask them questions, answer their questions and if they like your answers they will agree to go on a "date" with you. The date is nothing more than you playing the match-3 game. You have 20 moves/turns and must beat a target score. If you beat the score, the "date" is successful, otherwise it is a failure.
You can talk and attempt to date four times a day, morning, afternoon, evening, and night. you can only have a "date" with each woman, once a day, so "playing the field" is essentially a requirement.
After 3 successful dates with the same woman, you will want to set up your forth date at night. After a successful 4th date, you will both return to your apartment where you will play a different game. It is still match 3 with similar movement, but you need to make matches very quick... you have infinite moves, but all the points you gain are quickly lost. You have to reach a certain point total to remove her clothes. Once you finish quick enough the night is over, and you will wake up with her the next morning.
After you "bed" one woman, the fairy that has been offering you guidance is willing to date you as well increasing the number of women to date up to 9. (Based on the number of hidden steam achievements and the number of empty slots in your photo gallery, I believe there are 3 other women to date later in the game as well.)
After each successful date (playing the puzzle game) the score total you need goes up making the game progressively harder. There is no way to play the puzzle game without going through the dating ritual. Whether you win or lose, your score total earns you "munie." Talking to the women before the "date" allows you to earn "hunie." You use "munie" to buy gifts for your potential date, which in turn allows you to earn extra "hunie" by talking, or increase the number of questions you can ask. "Hunie" is then used to increase your scoring potential on dates making it easier to have a success. SO... Game points earn "munie"; talking to women and buying them gifts earn "hunie". "Hunie" is spent to improve your game score.
As I said, the puzzle game is actually good. However, there is no way to play it without the rest of the game. If the graphics are off-putting to you, the puzzle game will not be worth it.
As for the graphics, they are of course all anime... (Duh, I know...) After the first successful date you get an innocent image of the woman, the 2nd successful date, generally a teasing shot, the third may show some animated skin and possibly a breast. The forth after she returns to your apartment usually seems to have her hand down her panties and otherwise naked. Needless to you need to be open minded to play the game. Also, game content includes "adult toys" and during the endless mode game in your apartment whenever you make a match the game makes moaning sounds. This obviously is not a game for children, prudes, or anyone that has a significant other that will be offended by the content.
Liam... (or other mods) I tried to not go completely overboard with the content of this post... but feel free to edit it if you think it is necessary. (I don't think so, but sometimes you never know...)
EDIT: The steam forums have a link on "uncensoring" the game and another on how to unlock the 3 hidden women.

One of Valve's choices of games to highlight for Steam Machines is more than a little silly

Also remember, marketing campaigns more often than not include products of companies that co-sponsored the campaign. In other words, it may be that some cash changed hands for this to be promoted. And marketing people care more about cash then they care about technical merits.
Obviously, I do not know for sure, but that is my first thought when I see something like this happen.

I went to steam to get it and was surprised to see I had it already. Though with the number of Humble Bundles that I buy, I expect that is the reason why I have it.
The Frostbite engine apparently has partial Linux support but that doesn’t mean we’ll get ports anytime soon

AAA... obviously it does not imply quality whenever it refers to EA.
Years ago, After the launch of C&C 4, the last EA title I bought, I was enrolled into their beta program for the upcoming Red Alert 3. I noticed that it said it required internet access to play and immediately did not like or want that feature. Ultimately, it was something else that caused me to leave the beta program, but I honestly forget what, other than a different bad decision at EA.
Even EA did start supporting linux, I doubt I would ever buy anything from them ever again. I avoid anything for android from them like the plague, and the last time I bought anything from Popcap games was right before EA bought them. After titles like Simcity (the rebooted one with required internet access) and the multiple stories that appear from time to time about how people can't even play single player on older titles after EA turns their servers off, I feel more than justified and happy to avoid EA.
I am more than happy to support smaller indie type developers... you are more likely to get better support and actually new unique games that are different than mass market titles.
It is very sad, because I do remember when EA was just a distributor in the process selling indie games back in the Commodore/Atari era. I loved those games... the original Archon, Pinball Construction Set, M.U.L.E., Populous, and Racing Destruction Set (I might have screwed up that last title, the one where you built the cars and racetracks for a dirt rally road race.)
/end old person rant... :P

Quoting: razing32I'll be honest , I never got the appeal of pr0n games.I wholeheartedly agree with this. Whats the point... everyone here is connected to the internet after all.
Sure I don;t mind a titillating character but if you want pr0n just go to a XXX site and get your Hentai fresh from the source. Why bother matching gems if all you want are anime tits ??
Quoting: CybolicSo, what exactly are these games? I tried watching a few of the videos, hoping to learn a bit about the gameplay, but they all seem to be just slideshows of "titillating" characters.I have seen some of the trailers on steam, They all seem to be nothing more then graphic anime fiction. If someone does have a few of these and can actually inform us of actual gameplay, I would actually consider getting the bundle.
