Yeah, Nintendo will very likely shut them down.

Apart from that:
- Facebook groups / pages? :/
- No public release, source, anything yet
- No information about which licenses they're going to use

Meh.

Pillars Of Eternity, The RPG Aims For A Same-day Linux Release On March 26th

Quoting: BeamboomThe ending of kotor2 was... Weird. Unfinished indeed. But up until that point I had a great time.
I personally also ran into a bug on the pole station on Telos (where you meet Atris and the handmaiden) that triggers a left-over debug-mode and prevents you from continuing to play. I was also so smart to clobber my Telos savegame with that state...

The content restoration mod [External Link] is a great at fixing those issues, though. :)

Quoting: BeamboomStill, I'd love to see a Linux port of'em both. They are definitely worth playing.
Ditto.

In the case of KotOR2, I myself have a horse in that race [External Link]. *cough* :P

Quoting: BeamboomIn what way are Obsidian involved here? Are they the developers?
Yes, Obsidian is the developer.

Paradox is the publisher, and only for actual publishing and marketing. Paradox has no say at all in the development process [External Link].

Quoting: BeamboomCause then this is very interesting cause Obsidian are responsible for games like Knights Of The Old Republic 2 and Fallout New Vegas, if I am not mistaken.
Yeah. Josh Sawyer [External Link] and Chris Avellone [External Link], for example, aren't new at this.

Obsidian does have a reputation of releasing buggy (and in the case of KotOR2, unfinished) games, though. This has been attributed to pressure from the publishers in the past. Here's hoping that Pillars of Eternity isn't plagued with these issues. :)

Quoting: EKRboiAre the beta builds open to public or only those who pre ordered?
Neither. Only to those who backed their Kickstarter campaign with at least $110, or added $25 for beta access.

I.e. not me. :P

Quoting: SslaxxConsidering that they've never got round to releasing a beta build for Linux (and this strongly implies that, despite what they've said over the last few days, the last beta build won't have Linux binaries either), well pardon me for not having any confidence in that statement.
Well, according to them, the Linux build runs pretty well right now [External Link] and a new beta build next week should include Linux support [External Link].

You can just jump straight into Dragonfall. Apart from a few NPC that cameo in Dragonfall, there's not much overlap between Dead Man's Switch and Dragonfall.

Egosoft's X Rebirth Actively Being Ported To Linux
13 Jan 2015 at 1:34 pm UTC

Well, there's this review on Rock, Paper, Shotgun [External Link], and that looks like it is quite bad...

About the porting: are they actually porting it themselves now? The earlier X games were ported by outside contractors and Egoraptor let those ports rot afterwards. I always hated them for that.

Audiosurf 2 Released For Linux, Our Thoughts, It Rocks

Quoting: liamdaweWhatever happened to fair use eh?
It's very possible that in those places, there is no "fair use". Specifically, what most people know as "fair use" is a purely US-American concept. Other countries may have rules with a similar reasoning, but handled differently. How that interacts with YouTube being a US company, I don't know, though.

There's also the question whether "fair use" is a workable defense where you're basically playing the whole track. Still, as far as I understand, you getting a DMCA take down notice for that is actually the correct first step. You can then dispute it, claiming it falls under fair use. The copyright holder can then either try to sue you, or let it go.

And another thing: the whole "fair use" thing is partially moot on YouTube anyway, since YouTube itself has agreements with copyright holders to voluntarily pull things outside of the DMCA safe harbor.

Warhammer Quest Released For Linux To A Mixed Reception, We Check It Out

It's basically a very lazy mobile port that doesn't even take mouse and keyboard into account. Your mouse cursor acts as the finger on a touchscreen device. Neither the textures, nor the intro movies have been increased in resolution. And for that, they're asking 3x the price of the mobile version.

Then you have an ingame store for extra enemies and tilesets. Or you can pay nearly double the price of the base game to get them. This feels just like your real life Games Workshop business model to me, yeah.

You can also pay the deluxe price again to get 60,000 gold, an amount that apparently is enough to completely break the economy of the game. Nice.

There's also no multiplayer at all, which I think is a wasted opportunity. I mean, the original board game is already a cooperative multiplayer game!
