Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition For Linux & Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition Linux Update

Quoting: lavenever could go back to the "horrible" graphics just for the gameplay
I personally think the graphics of the Infinity engine games are beautiful.
And if you're talking about the small screen space because of the low resolution: there's a mod for that.

Quoting: omer666to me the story is much weaker than both Baldur's Gates
Of course. The two Icewind Dale games were always meant as low story actiony titles. Planescape: Torment is the opposite: high in story and low in combat. The Baldur's Gate games are kind of in the middle, balancing story and action.

GOG Announce DRM-free Movies, And Some Games Are Being Removed

What? No.
No, it's not not an issue.

Quite the contrary.

It's even worse of an issue!

"These have no Linux support and therefore it's not an issue"?!? NO!
These games should have had GNU/Linux on GOG from the beginning, since they had GNU/Linux from the beginning. In the case of Penumbra: Overture, it had GNU/Linux support for 7. Damn. Years.

GOG Announce DRM-free Movies, And Some Games Are Being Removed

Luckily none of the games being removed are Linux compatible games
Errm, that's not really true.
Amnesia: The Dark Descent [External Link] and the Penumbra series [External Link] are very much GNU/Linux-compatible games. Maybe not on GOG.com, but that's not something to smile about.

Hell, the first Penumbra game was released, on GNU/Linux, before GOG even existed.

I'm actually quite surprised and shocked that they're on this list. :(

It's true though that Golem isn't exactly known for accuracy and high journalistic standards.
But Gamestar.de, the website of a gaming magazine that's not been relevant for close to 10 years now, isn't either.

Quoting: MayeulCDoes someone have the links p. 87 ? Some of these have been altered by slideshare :-/

Personally, I hate SlideShare. Their viewer is crap, and they require an account to download the slides (and then they limit how many you can download, so discourage account sharing). I created a throw-away account for that reason some time ago.

And I took the liberty of uploading the Slides (OpenDocument presentation) here, now: https://drmccoy.de/zeugs/advancedlinuxgameprogramming-140812082348-phpapp02.odp [External Link]

Yes, I get that.

It's just a bit disappointing that everyone can yell "It works so much better for me now", while I get to look stupid. :P
