Voxels themselves do have their uses, as they can be a lot more flexible than ordinary polygons in many cases. But yes, using them simply because it is trendy may not be the best of reasons to do it.

Well, this is probably just serendipity again, though the argument could be made that Linux users should put their hands up and put their money in jut to get their point across.

I still do not know though. Also, while they have said they will release for Linux, WYV and Keep is not available for Linux at the momment. If you buy it through Indie Royale, will you get it for Linux later on or not?

I don't know - this seems like Jeffery Rosen messing around with his friends again rather than really doing anything real with the Bundles. At least the funds go to charity, but it does not help with their image considering I have heard complaints from more than one developer about them being ignored when they tried to put their games in a bundle. It really does seem like they are more interested in putting their friends up than anyone else sometimes.

And if it is true that Oxeye's game will not get a Linux release then that is just deplorable, considering that they took many Linux user's money. It basically is a betrayal of the trust that Linux users have with the Bundles. Now, it is true that they are not keeping the money themselves but that is actually beside the point - they took Linux user's money, knowing full well that the money was being given to them by Linux users with the expectation of a Linux release of their games. If they do not deliver, they have not only screwed those who contributed but also have betrayed the pricniples of the Bundle.

Saving judgment until later on that though, but still, could be a bad trend.

May I make a small observation - if you want more games on Linux, please don't heckle developers.

That is kind of neat. Nice to see it mentioned on one of the oldest gaming news websites. ;)

When it comes to the whole packaging thing, why anyone would really want a packaged version of a commercial game as an RPM or a DEB or something in this day and age is beyond me. Now, maybe this is because I come from a Fedora background, but I do not like mixing my commercial software with my clean system stack. All of the software I have managed through yum is free software - and that is how I want it to remain.

Games are also incongruent compared to the rest of my software due to their large size - I do not appreciate getting my system updates and having one game pop up which is more than three times the size of the rest. This is why I have several games that are in fact in the Fedora repositories installed through Desura instead. Much better for me to have a proper interface optimized for games and leave the legitimate goodness of command line yum (or PackageKit if you prefer...) for my system packages. I have no idea how the USC on Ubuntu handles all that, but I have the feeling I would have the same criticisms.

Plus there are all kinds of games on Desura which could not and should not be packaged by Fedora for a variety of reasons. In fact, I think several games should be simply ripped out of the Fedora repos, so they no longer have to deal with that stupid auto-downloadeder kludge. And if people are complaining about Desura's licence agreement, I suggest they take a look at some of the other software they are running. It is two thirds free software now, in the same boat as Google Chrome and its ilk, and if you are willing to play a commercial game I really do not get the complaints at any rate.
