Screenbound is a platformer where you play in 2D and 3D together

The concept reminds me of Neko Ghost, Jump! [External Link], although that one switches between 2D and 3D rather than being simultaneous.

Quoting: cozBusinesses have been created around protecting game developers against Switch emulation. You don't pay someone to protect you unless you expect to lose sales, which makes obvious that harm has been done.
Say what now? If you think you will lose sales on other platforms, then you make your game available on those platforms, you don't pay for some protection racket. That sounds pretty Mafia?

"Coming soon". Been waiting 14 years now.
I think some dev teams manage to create really great prototypes/teasers, but when it comes to the drudgery of actually making it into a full-fledged game they get burned out quickly. Not an easily avoidable trap without a "boss" pushing it along, and too many Kickstarters ended up with that fate.

Which other platforms? Microsoft does a fair job of backwards compatibility with Windows, but certainly Apple does not. macOS developers have to keep up on maintenance, or their customers can't play their games after a few OS updates.

I played through that one recently, and enjoyed it as well; I think the stupid EA launcher broke a couple times during my playthrough, but at least Valve got it working again quickly.

Reviews are overwhelmingly positive, so clearly the game has something going for it. But I just can't tell what based on the screenshots and video; it looks like a visual novel crossed with Final Fantasy style combat (hence the JRPG part, I guess).

Anyone who played it that can speak to the wide appeal?
