So they must have people constantly looking around for anything resembling Tetris to strike.
They do! They're very protective of their trademarks - though I'm not sure how they've gotten one on Korobeiniki [External Link], unless it applies to a specific modern-day arrangement that they own?

As soon as I saw the article, I was instantly reminded of a very old homebrew Tetris clone that was originally called Tetanus, but then ended up being renamed to "Lockjaw [External Link]".

Anyway, I'm glad that this has had more attention drawn to it as a result of the legal stuff - I quite like Tetris and fun clones thereof, and will have to take a look at this one.
Yeah, We need more Tetris clones.

Kind of wish Tetris Holdings would get off their bottoms and release some Tetris Clones themselves, either that, or new content.

Sick of people sitting on their trademarks and doing nothing with them, other then a few retro titles that feel like they have been created in Flash or Java.

Looking at you Taito

Was a Tetris Clone called Falling Up that flipped the axis on you in the middle of the game. Was kinda cool.. :)

What Atari classics do we want to see remastered?

The last decent Asteroid’s game I saw was the one released by Ambrosia Software, that was later open sourced.

And there was a two player variation I seem to remember having a lot of fun with on the PC, cannot remember the name as it was released about the time when Worms and Worms Reloaded were still very popular, so probably ancient.

Quoting: JarmerDoes this compare at all with Naev? I've been wanting to try something like these, but not sure which one is a good starting point.
Naev was based more on Battle for Orion / Battle for Orion 2. Endless Sky is based on the Escape Velocity series. Think Elite in 2D with some scripted stories / missions.

Escape Velocity used to be a very modable game on the Mac. Not sure how modable Endless Sky is planning to be.

A new Civilization game is in development and XCOM designer leaves Firaxis

Does this make Civilization one of the longest running games franchise?

Elite predated Civilization by a few years, but Elite Dangerous bears little resemblance to the original Elite, whereas Civilization is technically the same game.

If developers no longer have to target Linux native on the Steam store, then do they put the effort in for Linux Native just on GOG?

Just thinking. If they were targeting both platforms, it would have been far easier in the past if they already had Linux Native on Steam or GOG. Not saying developers are being too slack here, just that GOG cannot get all the blame if this is the case.

Valve marks some EA games Playable on Steam Deck again like Sims 4, Jedi: Fallen Order

Yeah, nothing from EA goes to Verified without a written guarantee from EA that they will not be updating their launcher without testing on the SteamDeck.

So the entire Pixel Jam catalogue is on sale currently on Steam, so hopefully this is more then an attention grabbing stunt.

Still, I might support his decision by buying their entire catalogue.

Google to release a tool to enable Bluetooth on the Stadia Controller

Stadia died because no one expected Google to stay loyal to another project, or the customer base that supported it. So not enough customer base.

Hate to say it, but google have a track record here. So they kinda brought it on themselves.

How long did Stadia last, two years? Better then some google projects then.
