For those not aware: Ryzen 3xxx / X570 doesn't boot on newer Kernel/Systemd-Combo:

Quoting: GuestBesides, tests with the expensive X570 cards have been done and it seem the Fan of Doom is indeed running quite often and what's worse, is noisy.
Strange, (german) Computerbase is writing that the Fan is not noticable at all on MSI and Asus boards:

Supraland 2, a sequel to the highly rated first-person metroidvania is crowdfunding and coming to Linux
29 Jun 2019 at 8:21 pm UTC

I would instantly back this - if it wasn't for the recent Epic-Shit-Store debacles that burned me enough to abandon crowdfunding...

I'm eagerly awaiting Linux for part one, played it a bit via family share + proton and loved it - so good to know that part 2 will have Linux in mind from the beginning :)

Steam's top releases of May show why Steam Play is needed for Linux

I really think proton is a good thing to help get more people on Linux.

What i don't know is if it is a good idea to buy games that don't support Linux but run with Proton - i'll happily play them if they are in a bundle, but until now i'm refraining from buying them...

Black Mesa now has a "Technical Beta" for Xen, but Linux support is missing for now

The trailer looks really slick - although i did enjoy xen back in the day, i'm really curious what their interpretation feels like :D

true, i always look if i can buy there - but i prefer getting a steam key with it, as steam still provides a "more complete" plattform

Its pretty simple what morale is at stake with BOUGHT exclusives:
Competition!

If bought exclusives somehow became accepted, all the shops would start to just buy exclusives instead of enhancing the experience for the customer - thus in the long term, everything would get worse for the user...no thank you!

Valve looking to drop support for Ubuntu 19.10 and up due to Canonical's 32bit decision (updated)
22 Jun 2019 at 8:54 am UTC Likes: 2

Uh, i did not realize ubuntu wants to drop multilib - from the headlines i thought they would only scrap the 32bit installer :O

But i highly doubt the alternative will be Debian, much to conservative with new versions. And packing a PPA with recent Kernels and Mesa for Debian seems kind of the wrong way.

Given they are working on KWin, maybe OpenSUSE? Manjaro might also be a good call...
Anyway, switching away from gnome is a good thing imho xD

The perils of crowdfunding for Linux games: Eco edition
16 Jun 2019 at 12:52 pm UTC Likes: 10

yeah, things like this were always an ugly risk for linux-backers...
But the straw that broke the camel's back for me to not crowdfund any games anymore was the outer wilds debacle (combined with phoenix point and shenmue3, although i wasn't involved in those).
Moral of the story for me, more than ever: i only buy games that have working Linux-builds and are (at least kind of...) finished...

Sad for all the games that might not make the cut in future crowdfunding campains, and i doubt the people that betrayed the trust of their backers are really aware of just how much they damaged the whole indie-scene...
