Nearly six years after the Kickstarter, Stainless Games claim Carmageddon is still coming to Linux

One thing to note ; i don't understand why they are referring releasing a GOG version as a reward?

People are buying it from there , you are not giving it away this game on there. You're just putting your build to another store ; at a price.

Reward term is irritating.
Kickstarter backers get a GOG key as a reward. It's like four years late but at least they finally delivered that.
Yeah, but in very same time you can get this game on GOG for up to 75% off. This means, that if bakers didnt backed this game it would be not necessary for them to pay big price anyway. For example for CIS region its 1.64$ which is pretty much cheap, just a little more expensive then Carmageddon 2.

Well, probably because they offer, ZOOOMG, 75% off for it on GOG. Ats almost FREE (joke). And...they finally released PROMISED DRM-FREE version AFTER SIX YEARS??? This is that they call fulfilling promises?

I hope the second part (if it gets ported) doesn't have that?
Oh yes, i can understand you. This and "your answers makes your stats" is one of most annoying things in whole game.

Quoting: EhvisI have to admit, the first Mario Kart was some of the most fun I had on a SNES. I got pretty good at it as well. And saying that this is inspired by it, is an understatement.
You should try Konami Crazy Racers then (for GBA) - its very-very similar.

Quoting: Alm888Meh… Another "MS DOS"™ game I have absolutely no reason to care about. GOG has a lot of problems with current gen Linux (like, blatant lying about Galaxy™ for Linux being "In Progress" ), they should be its top priority.
Yet, someone could find this release interesting, maybe.
Thats...umm..hard to comment. While yes, as linux gamers we here want GOG to focus on linux support we should not forget that initially GOG was all about bringing back OLD games and there is still rather big group of customers which says "i dont care about new games, i was my childhood titles back" and GOG doesnt forget about them too.
While everyone understand that old games stock is limited and its gettin harder and harder to dig them out i think its rather nice they still true to themselfes.

The 'Humble Staff Picks Bundle: Scribble' seems like a nice deal for Linux gamers

Quoting: g000hI use Steam, GOG, Humble, itch.io as well as resellers (like Fanatical) and don't have any particular bias towards any of them.

Whenever I have downloaded DRM free titles from Humble, I haven't experienced any problems myself. Also noting that Humble also provide Bittorrent links, as an alternative to downloading over web-browser. They also provide md5 hashes of the download files so you can check that your downloads/torrents have completed correctly and authentically.

If you are having web download problems, maybe fire up Transmission (bittorrent client) and download the file that way instead.

I've never had especially troubling download issues with those other sites either. Yeah, a download may fail once in a while (most likely due to line problems at my end) but I kick it off again and pick it up the next time.
Yeah, i actually did that, albeit lately i more like Tixati then Transmission.

But with torrent there is problems too - there is not much seeds in swarm for Humble torrents and webseed which humble hosting is rather slow and not willing to transfer data too.
I cannot recall any problem ever before Humble was sold, so i kind of worrying if they started to shifting away from DRM-FREE to simple steam resell.

Quoting: g000hAlso worth noting is that 5 of the games have DRM free download versions (3 Linux games - Aragami, Beholder, Shenzhen I/O) and 3 of the games have Soundtrack downloads.
Yes it is, BUT its question will be able to download it at all?
You see, before New yeard i had a chat with one person about Hammerwatch (old one and new one), i complained about how hard it is and person i was speaking with say i was playing it all wrong. Ok, i said. i give it another try.
I get to my Humble Library, found Hammerwatch hit download and...around half of it download stalled.
I tried numerous times - it was always failure, you get some part fo file then silence and connection reset by server. Nor different browser not wget able to download anything. I tried another games - none of them was downloading.
In the end i was able to download it via humble's torrent. barely.

Maybe it was regional CDN problem or tech issue but it was pretty unpleasant thrill for me.
