Quoting: Purple Library GuyI'm not sure what I think about "removing micromanagement". Usually with this kind of game I'd rather micromanagement was made easier than taken away.
Played it yesterday. Agreeing on all points :)

It's still a fun experience so far.

Quoting: kaimanThalion, the developer of Ambermoon went under shortly after its release, and I assume the remains were scooped up by Blue Byte. Both games basically share the same look and feel, so it's likely a port (or rewrite) of the original engine.

For me, Ambermoon was pretty much the best RPG on the Amiga. But on the PC there were better games than Albion.
…and some years later - BAM - Avatar 3D. And I was like: I know that style :D

The sad case of Unreal Engine 1 on Mesa and Linux in 2020

Quoting: docofkultI have been contemplating doing a retro build for some time specifically for playing the Loki games. However, besides some dabbeling with Red Hat around the turn of the century, most of my Linux knowledge have been gained after Ubuntu came around. My initial idea is to do a close to contempary build with a contemporary OS as to not have to fight issues like described in the article. Hardware will likely be Pentium III and a 3dfx graphics card. Not too sure about which sound cards actually had good support at the time. I would appreciate any suggestions as to which OS to go with and any sound card recommendations.
SB Live 5.1 with emu10k1 chipset worked miracles back then. So much pain saved thanks to beeing able to open it "exclusively" multiple times. Do not confuse with the emu10k tho. That was garbage :D

Quoting: TheRiddickI think like thousand people have got this virus (probably more) now and only ~26 confirmed deaths so far. Nature is going to need to do a HELL of allot better then that to wipe us out!
Let's come back to this statement in ~10 yrs to do the math.
A fair point, but remember SARS (which was also a coronavirus)? The initial panic was very similar, then it all just sort of... fizzled out. Maybe this one's tougher or something, but I'll begin to worry when people I know are catching it.
I doubt we'll have to deal with just one soon. Also there's this climate catastrophe that _already happened_. It's downwards from here - that's what science tells us and I'd wager it's the optimistic version :(
