Direct 3D to Vulkan layer 'DXVK' 1.6.1 release out with plenty of bug fixes

Quoting: gojulYooka-Laylee is Linux native, isn't it ?
It is, but as Liam wrote, in this case the fix was related to the second game. But another reason why this is helpful even when there is a native Linux version, is, that sometimes the Windows version run via Proton works better on Linux than the native Linux port. Not only performance-wise. Of course this is a slap into the face of the porters, but sometimes it's just needed. E.g. Company of Heroes 2, if you wanna play multiplayer with people not using Linux... or Rocket League, when the publisher decides to cease Linux support.

Quoting: TheSHEEEPNot really, no.
I've moved on to other games for now. I'll trust that they'll eventually release the linux version for good and then it can be played.

Just wanted to help out with testing, but I guess that is left to others now ;)
Looks there was an issue with the backer beta keys, which just now was found out. Looks like our keys weren't allowed to access anything else than the Windows beta.

Even after the Linux version is now released (unfortunately it seems AMD card users can't play the videos though).

Valve makes auto-update adjustments to help with managing Steam's bandwidth use

Allowing updates between two or more PCs on a LAN would be great. So you would not have to setup something like Steam proxy cache and Steam clients could update games that are installed between each other. Would save downloading the same game several times, when installed on more than one PC.

Oh, thx for this info! I didn't realize if you miss a free game in a certain time period, it's lost for you.
Just tried Thumber which seems to perform well, and also Metro, where I had some hiccups. It also doesn't quit properly for me. Need to test it more thoroughly, first look wasn't bad, but I kinda have the impression I can feel the input latency. Might be just me though.

New SteamVR Beta has some essential Half-Life: Alyx fixes for Linux

Steam VR is still crashing on each level transition in Half Life: Alyx for me with Beta 1.11.1 and latest Steam Beta Client. Other than that it's well playable for me, with some performance drops here and there, but not soo serious.

After my concerns have come to pass (very nice having it during the stream... the rule: no stream without technical issues did hit me hard yesterday :D) I was able to play it until the train scene. After some tinkering around, the performance was quite good for me. On the level transition the game crashed, causing a lock up where I had to hard reset the PC (mouse cursor was working, but nothing else, no keyboard etc). After this, I wasn't able to start the game again, it just closes immediately and the play button in Steam becomes green again.

But it was working. And yes, it is awesome. The visuals, the haptics, the animations, the details. Omg, the details! You can open trash cans, find a dead rat in it, pick it up, perfect ragdoll behaviour... you can turn the pedals of bycicles... you can squeeze beverage cans... turn the nob on a radio... paint with pens on glass... the immersion is wicked sick.

Okay, the level of interaction is not new, we've seen this already in Boneworks, but still, the unique Half Life universe art style... it's giving me goose bumps.

Where Beat Saber was the "killer app" for VR before, atm Half Life: Alyx might be the same kind of eye opener. Maybe I'm biased though ;)

Very cool Valve created a dedicated page for gamers who want to showcase Half Life: Alyx. Be it on stream or on the monitor or TV:

Streaming and Spectating Guide [External Link]

I'm not bold though planning a stream though, there can go so much wrong on Linux still :D
Just lately suddenly Beat Saber didn't start anymore. No logs got created, nothing. Turned out that opting out of SteamVR beta helped, though beta and stable were the same version ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Maybe it was releated to this github issue [External Link], maybe not.
