Looks like hit adventure game 'Owlboy' really is coming to Linux, ported by Ethan Lee

Just recently I've seen this game in a game show, and they were very enthusiastic about this game. It was 10 years (!) in development, 3 people all over the world. And they made a really good game.
Looking forward to get this one on Linux. Instabuy!

The developers of 'EVERSPACE' are still working on the Linux version, seeking help from Epic Games

Waiting impatiently for release ;)
Even though I played the alpha on Windows, I waited since beta for the Linux version and haven't played it since then.
It's good to see that they gave us some more detailed informations, as it felt like a lack of communication before. Also on the latest Backer update news on Kickstarter Linux wasn't mentioned at all. So the first comments were questions about the status of the Linux port.
I hope they get used to work with Linux and can fix future issues sooner and more efficient. Otherwise I would be afraid of having the Windows/Mac version being better updated and supported than the Linux version.

I'm still a bit surprised, as the Mac and Linux stretchgoal was reached way before the console stretch goal. But there is now a XBox One version, and still no Linux version.

But it looks like they are really close, some last major issues left, hopefully Epic can help them to get this solved. Or someone else... maybe even Valve can help out. There are also a lot of porters available and capable of helping here. But I guess they won't do it for free ;) So it's difficult. Worst case would be that they cancel the port, because they couldn't fix the last issues. Like what happened to Darksiders.

Quoting: tuubiAre you sure you didn't say you were a Nigerian prince and you had a nice business opportunity to discuss?
My grandma has full trust in his emails, so why should they be worried? :D

I sent out a tweet to them, maybe that'll reach them ;)

EVERSPACE, the gorgeous looking space shooter does look more positive for Linux now
5 Dec 2016 at 7:55 pm UTC

They released a new Kickstarter-Update [External Link], and as they didn't mention Linux in it at all, people were asking about the status of the Linux port.

Looks like the Linux port of Everspace is being held back by a nasty issue [External Link] with OpenGL 4.
They reached out to Epic to get some help. Hope they get the last issues resolved.

Discord chat app adds an experimental Linux version
2 Dec 2016 at 9:39 am UTC

Some of my friends are starting to use Discord, and I wanted to download the app, but can't find it.
Is there only the web app left? Has the Linux client been canceled?

Even though Discord isn't open source, you could still provide a ppa, like webupd8 does this for Sublime Text (https://launchpad.net/~webupd8team/+archive/ubuntu/sublime-text-3)

What one game would blow your mind if it came to Linux & SteamOS?
1 Dec 2016 at 11:38 pm UTC

Elite: Dangerous.
That would really blow my mind. And I think I would never boot into Windows again.

Okay, I would also be interested in Titanfall/Titanfall 2 and any newer Call of Duty. CoD4:Modern Warfare runs well in wine. But Elite would be my absolute favorite.

The developers of 'Darksiders' comment on the Linux version, they couldn't fix the issues

Too bad, so sad. I was really looking forward having Darksiders on Linux. I played it through on Windows, and it's a really great game. The gameplay is neat, with nice graphics and some cool puzzles to solve. But as with some other titles, when you don't hear anything about the port for a long long time, it'll probably never come. (*cough* giana sisters *cough*)
If only Leszek Godlewski would have finished the port before leaving. But as he said, he is done with porting. Probably he wasn't pleased about all the questions about when the port is finally finished. Iirc he even removed all tweets about it, so nobody asks him anymore. Maybe that's even our fault.

I read the "Maybe Warmastered Edition will get a Linux port one day." as the same. More unlikely than likely. The Warmastered Edition probably won't have less issues than the original version. Of course I hope we'll get a port, but I don't count on it.

GOG have something mysterious planned for December 1st

Quoting: CreakEvolve?
The development of Evolve is "finished". Turtle Rock Studios is no longer updating it.
So I guess this means it will never come to Linux :-( Though they have a filled Linux depot regarding to steamdb.

You will need to update your udev rules for the Steam Controller

Will the new rules be updated sooner or later distro-wise? Or will all Linux users have to do these changes manually?

Edit: ah, Eike's post already answers this ;)
