Valve gives up on Artifact setting it free with Artifact Classic and Artifact Foundry

Quoting: ArtenIf they do it, they do it with source 2 engine. Has source 2 engine capabilities for sim racing games?
Sorry for the late reply.

Yes Source 2 might not be suitable for Sim racing. But, it doesn't mean Valve workforce only know how-to on one engine only. Campo Santo made their games on Unity. Valve itself do making VR demo games (The Lab excl. Robot Repair) in Unity. Valve proved they can and willingly use other product/ecosystem if needed.

Also, Gabe Newell himself is a team owner of professional racing team named "The Heart of Racing"! He knows the business in motorsport. So, it is shame if Valve not capitalized their own Chief knowledge and expertise to make one hell, real and best Sim racing on market.

Wolfire Games filed a lawsuit against Valve over abuse of their market position

Quoting: PublicNuisanceThe reality is that gamers are as much to blame as Valve. Take Wolfire for instance, they sell their games on Steam but also Itch.io and Humble Store. If a gamer wanted to give them maximum profit Itch.io would probably be the best bet as Itch.io allows developers to set what revenue goes to Itch and what they keep. The option is there but the issue is that most gamers prefer to buy from Steam to keep their games in one library. In other words they should be as mad at gamers as they are at Valve as gamers choose where to buy their games. Of course getting mad at your customer and suing them doesn't play so well from a PR standpoint. Just to make clear, i'm not saying they should sue gamers or even be mad at them but it makes as much sense (or as little) as being mad at Valve. I for one try to buy from Itch.io and GOG as I prefer to support those businesses that give me a DRM free product and support open source (in Itch's case not GOG). I'm the minority though, most gamers don't care. They just want their games and don't care about ideology or business practices. As long as that is true then Valve will remain king and no lawsuit will change that.
Totally disagree with your statement that I bolded.
Here the thing. Why most gamers especially in developing/emerging countries (which includes me) choose Steam because of one thing: Convenience

I can buy Steam wallet code anywhere! 7-Eleven, Tesco (now called Lotus as Thai company bought it), some mom-and-pop shops, telcos and even a bank! (Maybank Malaysia link) [External Link]. Some country such as India also have Cash on Delivery option.

So, Why should we get blame for choosing a company that offers better service to us. The one who willingly takes extra mile to reach us the gamers, as their customers. Don't mad at us for exercising our consumerism.

Without extra mile that Valve took, piracy will be rampaging again. Just like the old times. As Gaben said:
Piracy is an issue of service, not price

Apologies. Just share our sentiment (and some facts) here. And I do bought some games on itch.io if possible too.

Wolfire Games filed a lawsuit against Valve over abuse of their market position

Little bit look of their past/background.... nah... too many conflict of interests.

BTW, good luck with lawsuit. Don't think any WA states' bureaucrats/system will piss off their own successful corporation, especially on borderline vexatious litigation. You know, the unwritten rule in the USA called "don't chop your hand who feed you".

Never understands why Discord is popular and certainly never will with this news.

Quoting: GuestAnother account to delete... What's next? Will they buy my country too?
Not MS. But, T--c--t proxies is being extremely aggressive to conquer on my country's digital market with it's buying power. So far, they're on right track to succeed, but with lots of losses and sometimes revenue is a joke when compared to supposedly it's market valuation. Still, don't worry, Big Papa will personally underwrite it.

Valve gives up on Artifact setting it free with Artifact Classic and Artifact Foundry

My old comment from 2019.

Lets be honest, online-focused trading card games (TCG) need to be F2P. Better I buy and play the physically real trading card for example, Pokemon TCG which will become collectable item/future classic in the future, can trade freely and etc., rather than buy a virtual TCG with some/many restriction cause it's a virtual game card. (LINK)
TLDR, Artifact should never exists. Period!

And if any Valve employees or Gaben read this comments, please:

LINUX GAMERS NEED GREAT SIM RACING! EVEN VR-ONLY ALSO WE WILL ACCEPT IT

Seriously. With first-party sim racing IP, Valve will make huge fortune selling DLC or microtransaction in form or cars or tracks or even both.

It is never ever too late to make it, Valve.

We must avoid making more fragmentation in Linux at all cost. Just look at the Android ecosystem. Hell, there is even a brand new, not mainstream brand devices which still comes with Android 5.1 because some users hated to use Android Go.

These one of reasons why EA is no longer most hated game-related companies.

Valve abusing the market power of Steam on game pricing according to a lawsuit

This citizen of "emerging market" (according to wall street) want to speaks (or write). Kinda on-topic but at the same time try to avoid directly touching on this (or any) litigation. After all, we should never contempt the court, regardless any supreme courts or kangaroo courts.

This is one of reasons why I support Uncle Jack's-backed shops rather than the "T-keiretsu wannabes" shops. The former is lesser evil than latter, the former just want to make more money for him and his cronies rather than latter want to conquering every single thing on our earth as "the big papa" wishes.

There's reason why Uncle Jack is being "disciplined" by "the big papa" for a while few months ago. For me, from far away this lawsuit smells "T-keiretsu wannabes".

And personally, very uneasy with EU in last 2-3 years. Feels like most of their laws and regulations is trying to protect the-chosen-one EU citizens/entities by giving middle finger to both not-the-chosen-one EU citizens and non-EU citizens alike.

That's all.
