Quoting: FutureSutureOr, buy a copy on Linux, leave it in inventory for a couple weeks so it counts as a Linux sale, and then give it to a Windows-using friend who was planning to buy it. Then it adds 1 to Linux and steals 1 from Windows, making up for the difference.Quoting: lucifertdarkOh No! not another game that I already own from my Windows days, how am I expected to support these companies in their Linux ports?Simple. Buy it again and gift it to a fellow Linux user or a Linux using friend.

Excellent. I shall wishlist it until such a time as a purchase as a Linux gamer is warranted.

Ziggurat ran great, even when it was in Early Access.
My question is, why do some Unity games run great on Linux, and others do not?
I have other questions, too. But that's the main one. It's baffling as to why so many use the nearly-useless config launcher, while others let you just set things in the game. And some games work perfectly well with gamepads, and others are wonky. And so on.

GOL GOTY Awards Are Over, Here's The Top 10 From Each Section

If you restrict the next awards to games that released on Linux this year, then the problem of too many choices mostly eliminates itself. I understand the logic, but it's still silly to bother with "Game of the Year" awards if you're able to nominate and vote for games that are 10-20 years old. And if you don't narrow it down this way, then the editors will choose their favorites, which may not mesh with the rest of the community's favorites, and will potentially ignore great 2015 games.
C4 Engine Drops Linux Support, Developer Says Linux Is Inferior

I just read this post [External Link] by Juan Linietsky on the Godot Engine forums, although not directly related to C4, it shows the stark contrast between the two engine leaders. This is the kind of guy I want to support. Unfortunately, he doesn't charge for Godot but instead gives it away under the liberal MIT license, and donations are not accepted anywhere that I could find... I guess he does it all for the fun of it.

From the site that shall not be named: "He says too in the future that they may support SteamOS but that they will not let the engine run on Linux in general."
I hope Valve does not let this happen. And for this reason alone, I will endeavor to NEVER give a single cent to any game that uses C4. Basically he's saying, "We want money from Linux gamers in case SteamOS does take off... But otherwise, FUCK YOU, LINUX GAMERS!"

And of course Rich Geldreich jumps in to bash Linux too... *sigh*
Just because the engine doesn't have any big-name titles on it doesn't mean this isn't a loss. Any loss is not a good loss for Linux. His hostility out of nowhere is generally annoying, but I'd rather not have seen him pull Linux support.

As the wiki points out, there are many different engines, but this is the one I like. The forums and IRC are active if you have questions.

Quoting: rick01457You didn't ask me, but I'd recommend you check out Godot Engine [External Link]. Stable 1.0 released in mid-December, and there's been a ton of work made since then in github, including robust new autocompletion and syntax tooltips, amongst others. It's MIT-licensed, so there's no worries about licensing or royalties or restrictions of any kind. The community just finished a Christmas game jam which resulted in 7 or 8 open-source games that you can look at to learn (my own entry was a simple 2D shooting game, with online leaderboards). I've been using it for over a year in my spare time, and I really like it. The scripting language is loosely based on python, which I had never touched before, and I found it easy to pick up. The company who released it has a point and click game demo on Steam (including Linux), and is planned for release in May.Quoting: SpeedsterHow many of the engines listed as having native editor support on the wiki have you had a chance to check out yet?Well none, as it turns out. I didn't even realise there was a wiki page for that. Should've looked I guess.
Is there any you might recommend?
