Green Man Gaming has the same sale price, but you can also use the 20% off coupon on the site and save another couple bucks.
I played this on PS3 and really liked it. I'm glad that the Linux version has online co-op play - that's one thing that was curiously absent from the original PSN release. Couch co-op was a lot more fun than solo play, but you need real-life friends for that.

Valve Announces New Controller For SteamOS, Steam Controller

It doesn't look ugly to me.. Not any uglier than any other input device, anyhow. Look at the eyesore of having a keyboard in your living room... Versus this.
I am really excited, more for this pad than the OS or Machine, in fact (and I'm pumped about those!). The capabilities and features are impressive. Kudos to Valve, as I really expected a Source 2 announcement and a game... That would be too obvious.
Also, the DualShock 4 doesn't have a touchscreen, it has a touchpad. It doesn't display anything. Just a minor point, but there it is.

You can do the math to see what percentage chance you have of being one of the 100,109 disappointed qualifiers at the end of October, but the bad news is that the number is going to keep going up, up, up... Best start saving pennies now if you really want a Steam Machine.

This site needs a way to distinguish quotes pasted from other sites, and editorial blurbs because it's messy to read like this.
In any case, I'm pretty excited about this. If there's a hardware option I can justify spending on, my PS4 purchase will be suspended indefinitely.
Edit: As for the next-to-last comment in the article, the whole point of SteamOS and Steam Machines is not to move away from the desktop, but to expand into the living room. That's the whole goal. Nobody in their right mind is going to run SteamOS on a desktop PC on a desk - what's the point? All your Steam games will work on your regular desktop OS natively or via streaming, and any performance increases etc afforded by SteamOS will be offset by the time you spend rebooting between OSes to do real desktop PC tasks.. Yeah, some crazy people might do it, but it's really not the intent and seems foolish, truly.
Also, I don't expect to see an Android Steam Store. It's possible, but it makes little sense. I think a more robust Steam client, with streaming capabilities, maybe the ability to use an Android device as an input device and second screen - those things make sense. Even Sony's doing that. But is that Friday's announcement? I dunno. The earlier rumors suggest Source2 and a game, and that seems believable, but there's gotta be more to it.
Edit Again: if there is an open-source engine, they should call it OpenSource. haha

Quoting: SabunYes, it is super exciting to me, no doubt. I don't think they're really targeting desktop hardware - it will run on desktop hardware of course, so that you or I could get it and install it like any other OS/distro and make our own Steam console for our living rooms - but I think their main goal here is to get hardware manufacturers to make pretty little boxes that ship with it. Look at it like the Android situation. And just like Android's Google Nexus, I expect Valve will announce a reference "SteamBox" hardware implementation. And I think the other announcement is an official "SteamPad" gamepad that will be the standard for devs to target. But I could be wrong on that. I just hope it's more like the DualShock 3/4 than the Xbox controllers.Quoting: QuoteDesktop? You mean television, right? Ubuntu isn't aggressively targeting the TV last I checked.I know everyone's thinking TV and living room, but the OS itself is meant to run on desktop hardware (at least that's my understanding, correct me if I'm wrong). That is why I refer to it as such. Also Ubuntu TV does exist, but is slow coming I think. Any how, doesn't this news excite you? It sure does me :D

But it does look totally different, and the main point was TV+couch vs "desktop." I don't think SteamOS wants to be a desktop OS at all. It's got "living room" on the page like eight times, not to mention the URL.

Quoting: adolsonFirst I've heard of it. Can't be that aggressive. :PQuoting: Quote from SabunDesktop? You mean television, right? I'm actually pretty excited to try it out once it's downloadable.
