Lightweight desktop Xfce 4.16 released with a visual refresh and fractional scaling

Quoting: legluondunet
Quoting: IzaicToo bad it doesn't support Wayland now that Xorg is abandoned.
For the moment, Wayland is not enough stable and mature for gamers, so it's not very a serious argument for gamers to not choose this DE.
Well, I currently try it with Wayland and of course xwayland depending on the game and it is very stable for me - at least while using AMD and the open source driver. I would consider the 2d gnome desktop superior compared to xorg in terms of tearing and scaling.

Currently I'm only missing VRR as a feature. I plan to try latest KDE as they claimed walyand to be the new standard with the last release. At least for me 2020 is like the truning point for xorg/wayland as wayland is now the default for gnome/kde but also for big distros like ubuntu or fedora.

Our top favourite Linux games released in 2020
23 Dec 2020 at 10:38 pm UTC Likes: 1

I really have the impression that gaming on linux has "decreased" in terms of interesting native releases.

Looking into my this years purchase history I have mainly just bought extensions for existing games:
- add-ons/extensions for City Skylines
- add-ons/extensions for Two Point Hospital
- add-ons/extensions for Parkitect
- add-ons/extensions for Prison Architect
- add-ons/extensions for Cvivlization VI
- add-ons/extensions for Darkest Dungeon
- add-ons/extensions for Europa Univeralis IV
- add-ons/extensions for Hearts of Iron IV
- add-ons/extensions for Oxygen not Included

For Linux native:
Songs of Syx
Legend of Keepers
Space Haven

And I preordered Sapcebase Startopia.

For Proton-play I bought Wreckfest.

Looks like I mainly played games from previous years lie anything from Paradox, Oxygen not Included, Parkitect, Two Point Hospital and Transport Fever 2. I can't remember any game from 2020 really sucked me in.

Great to see this update finally coming. A game with potential. Hopefully the AI of the colonist has been improved. In the past versions the AI realy let me went insane.

Theme park builder 'Parkitect' now uses the Vulkan API on Linux

Wow! Really great to see Linux supported like a first-class citizen. I really like this game a lot.

Prison Architect - Psych Ward: Warden's Edition expansion announced (plus another coming)

@liam

You have tagged Prison Architect as a “Dating Sim”?

Well... ...I have never seen it that way.

*rofl*

Prison Architect updated with more free content, needs a fix for it running on Linux
18 Sep 2019 at 2:31 pm UTC

Thanks for the workaround. I wasn't able to launch since yesterday.

BTW, has there anybody some info regarding future plans of Paradox/Double Eleven regarding Prison Architect?

EDIT: the game is still not working - something is running but I do not get an UI. Two days ago everything was still fine.

EDIT2: I think my issue was a mixture of the update (removing sound libs: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/the-slammer-update-for-prison-architect-is-now-live.1246200/#post-25823859) [External Link] and/or the recent update to pulseaudio 13.0 i did on the same time.
I had the follwoing error message: Initialising SDL Audio:FATAL ERROR : Failed to open audio output device: "Audio target 'pulse' not available"
According to https://wiki.archlinux.de/title/Pulseaudio#Konfiguration_SDL_f.C3.BCr_PulseAudio [External Link] i had set SDL_AUDI'O to pulse. This seems to be not working anymore. I set SDL to alsa and now it is working again.

Paradox Interactive sale going on Humble Store and Paradox have opened a new studio
8 Mar 2019 at 8:50 am UTC

Former EVP at Electronics Arts? Sounds for me like Paradox is aiming for an own micropayment/transaction platform...

Hopefully not.

I think he was involved a lot into production of The Sims 2, on of the few games that has more DLCs than an average Paradox Game. At least here he seems to fit to Paradox.

Maybe something like The Sims? Sklyine Citizens?

Cities: Skylines updated, a great time to pick it up with the newer Industries DLC
17 Dec 2018 at 6:35 pm UTC

Cities is the reason to update mem from 16 to 32GB in my actual config. I was not able to load old savegames along with hundreds of mods i have subscribed to with only 16gb of ram.

Besides the performance topics it also lacks a a bit of economy (compared to e.g. sim city 3000) for me. But compared to SC4 it really is superior. I really enjoyed playing it.
