Even MORE invites for Steam Deck purchases will start going out now

since it had all the feature I wanted and I found a couple people online saying everything worked great on the steam deck.
For me the big ones were VGA + 3mm + Ethernet + at least 2 USB and of course a high enough pass through power rating to keep the deck charged while docked. It also has HDMI and and SD + micro SD card support which could be nice for future proofing/data transfer in case I ever need them.
There's a couple other options out there that trade the VGA + 3mm for an extra USB port if they aren't of use to you. Though watch out for the ones with only USB 2.0 ports... unless you're sure your only going to use USB for Mouse/keyboard and not storage/video..etc
I want one USB port for a wireless mouse keyboard combo and the other for an external SSD so USB 3.0 was quite important to me.

I got mine on the first... they didn't ship it out until Sunday... PSA they ship from CAROL STREAM, IL and they use super slow FedEX. So if you're like me and live in CA it's a week+ long wait from ship to get. Won't get mine until the 12th, so that's almost 2 weeks from payment to receive.
On the + side got a record low priced 512GB SanDisk Extreme and a good price on a USB-C dock with good reviews for working on the SteamDeck due to Labor Day weekend sales.

Quoting: BlackBloodRumThat's what I'm hoping. Of course at this point anything better than the switch will be like lighting. Switch games tend to take forever to load, especially if they're off a cart. Baffles me to no end why they made the game carts slower than reading of an SD card.Quoting: PixelDropSweet, mine got moved from Q4 to Q3 too. I'm a 64GB model since I'm okay with slower load times off SD cards.Don't worry! If you get a good SD card you won't even notice that you're running off an SD card. Certainly not to the point of feeling "slower load times"
I have two SD Cards and use them for games without any performance degradation, despite having the 512GB model
So no worries!

Here's hoping for a 3rd party steam deck with detachable joy-cons and TV dock.
Valve to ship 'more than double' the number of Steam Decks each week

The real question I wonder is if/when we'll see a 3rd party actually get a price that comes close to the steam deck with matching or better performance.
For myself I'm not interested in spending over $500 on a handheld, especially since I have to buy 3 of anything I get. [kids]

Quoting: TheRiddickI'm just going to wait for AMD's next-next APU lineup see what handheld vendors can do with RDNA3.Thus far all the other vendors charge a small fortune compared to the steam deck and don't offer the same kind of controls. Though almost all of them have better CPUs already since the steam deck CPU/GPU is already pretty old by cutting edge terms.

My pre-order still says after Q3 and I got it right as it changed over from Q3 to after Q3 [I took a day to think about it XD] so either they figured this ramp up in long ago, or they haven't updated the order page.

Quoting: mindedieWhat's funny is that use to be what a lot of games did. Sacred 2 was the last game I remember seeing the option to install 2k/4k separately and I think it tripled the size of the game if you did. The core game came on 1 DVD then the 2k/4k texture pack came on 2~3 extras.Quoting: setzer22Still, I think a deck with 1TB storage would be an absolute beast. With many AAA stuff being over 50GB nowadays, 250 feels a bit too limited, having to uninstall games to fit others all the time. Why get bigger storage? Why buy more memory or get faster CPU/GPU every year if a lot of problems (bloat, optimization, bugs, memory leaks, just total random crap) are software ones? Just give option NOT to download and/or install 4K, 2K and other ultra high fidelity quality definition somethings... Anyways, it is AAA (others too), asking way to much in the end... still hard coding key-binds, need to edit *.ini to disable headache inducing and/or get access to useful options, unlocking FPS breaks game mechanics and physics, software released somewhere between ALPHA and RC stages as 1.0...
Steam Deck gets a 15FPS option, new keyboard themes

Steam deck is a computer, not just a game console. 15fps is actually quite good for a lot of non-game software. Steam even has a lot of non-game software available.
But as others have said, the big long term Q is if steam will encourage a way for devs to auto preset the ideal default limit, having to change settings all the time will never be a good idea, the vast majority of people will just forget the option exists and live with poor battery life even if they mostly use apps and games where 15fps vs 30fps is virtually unnoticeable.

Bought it, played around with it for a bit.
#1 If it hangs on load delete the: "UnityCrashHandler64.exe"
in the folder.
#2 It's a really cool concept, but it's missing too many quality of life features to be really useful and the limited canvas / depth size at the moment is a huge limiting factor.
#3 No way to import already existing art work is also a major limiting factor. Since you can't even import it for reference to trace over it.
Overall it looks great and no regrets on buying it since I look forward to see were it goes, and it'll probably only go places if people show interest in supporting it.
