Futuristic drift-racer Neodash is out now on Steam and looks wild

Public service announcement: This game doesn't seem to be able to run in gamemode on the Steam Deck, but it runs just fine when set to run through Proton. The Linux version does work in desktop mode however, so I'm not sure what the deal is there.

Oh wow, that OUTRIDERS footage... can you play against the protagonist instead? That voice acting's really grating

Looks a bit too juvenile for my taste, but then again, there's an Evil Dead II reference in that trailer so it certainly overlaps somewhat with my interests. Wishlisted.

Interesting art style; reminds me a bit of Blastar on the Amiga.

Quoting: areamanplaysgameI'm not sure I really understand the point of the "dock" so much. The hub makes perfect sense, but standing the Deck up doesn't seem all that useful. Does anybody use/ plan to use it this way? I've never used my Switch standing up either - it's either handheld or docked and displaying on my TV.
Personally, I like being able to use the Steam Deck as a secondary device, not necessarily connected to an external display - depending on what I'm doing of course - and for that, having it docked like that while connected to an external keyboard/mouse is quite comfortable.

Quoting: WoozyFetusSeems nice but what is the point of 4k HDMI being advertised when the steam deck only ever outputs 720p? Seems deceiving if you don't know that
The Steam Deck supports up to 8K@60Hz or 4k@120Hz on external displays according to the specs [External Link]. I haven't tested 4K myself, but 3440x1440@50Hz works just fine.

Initial thoughts on the HP Dev One laptop with Pop!_OS

I haven't had the best of luck with HP products in the past, but this machine keeps catching my eye.
Currently I'm leaning more towards the Framework laptops due to their modular nature and being able to shove >=32GB of RAM in them. I don't know about anyone else, but my development work tends to eat RAM like there's no tomorrow.

That sure is a hefty price! Then again, 8W is pretty impressive battery use and I do have an 8-hour boat trip coming up shortly...

EDIT: I succumbed. "Ni no Kuni Wrath of the White Witch Remastered" being on sale as well (also known to work well on the Deck) made this a nice pretend-bundle.

Quoting: Liam DaweSteam Deck is also now an option under "Main gaming machine", since I think including it directly there will be useful.
So, should we select this if the rest of the information is about our Steam Deck or if we're mostly using the Steam Deck, not the PC that the rest of the information describes?
You enter in, as always, whatever your main gaming unit is. Nothing has changed on that, just now you can very specifically state in that one question exactly as Steam Deck.
Gotcha :) May I request a new field then, similar to the VR one, where we can select if we use any handheld Linux machine apart from our main PC?

I'm thinking something like this:

Quoting: CybolicFor those interested, it works very well on the Steam Deck at a locked 40FPS with SSR turned off (it's very distracting on anyway).
You must have a different Deck then, for me the game is near unplayable with the framerate going anywhere between 20 and 40 (SSR turned off, reflections off, textures medium, glitch effect turned off)

Okay, you're very right. It was a locked 40FPS whenever I was looking at the counter, but paying more attention to it now in more intense scenes, I can see that it indeed drops down to 25 at times. 25FPS drops are rare on mine though, but drops to 31-32FPS are frequent.

Here's a shot from my Deck at roughly the same spot. I think I have textures on low and glitch on, but otherwise same settings as you. EDIT: I should note that I'm using the beta branch of SteamOS with a screen refresh rate of 40.

Seconded. BallisticNG is amazing, to the point where it's practically my favourite WipEout game, despite being a separate IP.
