Quoting: johndoe86xWhen Epic and Steam compete, then consumers will win. You can buy the game on the Epic store for $10 less than you would on Steam, and you can import into your Steam library and use Proton.
I usually don't feel like a winner when I'm pressured to do something..
In this case you probably won't have much luck using the game with Proton, as they will use Denuvo for it.

If they use Denuvo, then it wouldn't have mattered much if the game was on Steam or not. Having said that, this sounds more like an issue of supporting a non-consumer-friendly publisher than what store you buy this from.
I actually think it's both!

I think I'll give At the Gates a try, or I could return to Pathfinder Kingmaker. Version 1.2 came out recently.

Quoting: liamdawethe wording was very harsh though.
Are you referring to this phrase: "but personally I think that's extremely rude and uncivilised"?
That's very harsh? We have really come to this?
I miss the "Nvidia, fuck you!" days...
And it's also more precise! ;-)

Quoting: liamdaweHere's some extra perspective for you.

CodeWeavers emailed me a while ago out of the blue to thank me for my coverage of Proton. I emailed them to ask for an interview, they didn't reply. A week later one of them is on a podcast with BoilingSteam.

I didn't get salty about it, it's just the way it is. It's why I find the situation so bemusing. Emails don't get answered all the time.
Exactly. In my experiance not answering emails often means "cannot talk about it", "cannot talk about it and also can't tell you why", "don't want to talk about it for my own non-public reasons", or something of the like.
And maybe (speculations) Codeweavers wrote about it all, because they got asked so often and did want to answer that it's not on them.
I guess we should trust them all to resolve this in their own .. or not if they choose to.

Quoting: pbThat reminds me of a huge business deal that I would have missed if I didn't peek in my spam folder for no reason. After that I set a reminder to check/clean my spam box every two weeks. ;-)
Was it the FBI offering billions of dollars? ;)
No, that Nigerian deal!

Codeweavers works with Valve on Proton, Valve funds DXVK for Proton, and Codeweavers and DXVK are unable to communicate with each other? Sounds odd to me.
Maybe the story has an unknown background. However, I don't see how the community could possibly help...

Let's see how many bottles we have to drink until this tasty drink lands in a new Proton version. This time I hope I get to drink less!
