Megabonk from vedinad has withdrawn from The Game Awards 2025

After reading a great review on GoL and watching a very professionally done developer's blog on YouTube, I bought Megabonk. I have posted the URL to the developer's blog previously, but for those of you that are interested in this hilarious video, here is the link:

After playing the game for a few hours, I got very curious about the developer. I could find nothing. Since Vedinad turned down The Game Award nomination, a number of other people have written articles about this mysterious developer. Here is the most authoritative and interesting article I discovered:

Megabonk and the mystery of the missing YouTuber - is creator Vedinad actually Danidev?

One thing that is not a mystery to me, this is a great game. Highly recommended!

Former Humble Bundle staff launch new bundle site Digiphile to "benefit users, creators, publishers, and charity"

This will not be important to most people, but it does not appear that Digiphile accepts PayPal. That is a deal breaker for me.

The Godot Engine 2025 showreel is out

When I am considering buying a game on Steam, I will often look at the following criteria:
1. Is the developer a single individual or a small (2-3) team of developers?
2. Is developer also the publisher?
3. Do they use the Godot game engine?

If the answers to these questions is yes, the likelihood that I will purchase the game is significantly increased.

Of course, if it is highly recommended by GoL and the GoL crowd, that is a very important consideration also. There are lots of games on this list that answer yes to the questions above. What an impressive video and list of games!

Halls of Torment is still probably the best survivor-like with The Boglands DLC and free update out now
10 Nov 2025 at 9:52 pm UTC

I looked at new The Boglands DLC for my favorite action-roguelike survivor-like game, Halls of Torment. I was surprised when I saw that the user reviews were "Mixed" with 101 reviews (70 positive, 31 negative). Some of the English reviews talked about bugs, game crashes and balancing issues. There is also a couple that mentioned problems with "growth traits." Since I did not own the DLC, I could not confirm or deny any of these claims.

Here is one of the more interesting/popular negative reviews:

All of this lead me to the conclusion, "I need to check this out", so I bought the DLC.

One of the most promising deck-building roguelikes ever, Moonsigil Atlas gets a big demo upgrade

Moonsigil Atlas will be an insta-buy for me upon release. Glad to see that the release date is still 2025. I have been playing the demo on and off since April. The first demo update dropped in August. I was very impressed by the many improvements in this first demo update and am looking forward to giving this second update a spin this evening.

Megabonk is a mega success selling 1 million in 2 weeks, after being repeatedly told to delay it

After reading the glowing review in GoL, I thought Megabonk might be something that I would enjoy. I stumbled across this developer's blog on YouTube which convinced me I had to buy the game. For me, this stands out as one of the funniest devlogs I have ever watched:

Dwarf Fortress gets some more fixes, a preview of the Siege Update due soon and a modding jam

This is one of those games that on paper I love following, and reading about, and watching videos about, but just could never get into due to complexity. But I absolutely love that it exists and people play it!
I feel exactly the same way. I also feel the same way about Caves of Qud. But if Dwarf Fortress supports modding, I am wondering if someone has made a "Keep It Simple for Stupid" mod... although they probably could not dumb it down enough so that I could understand the game.

Use rule-bending books to build a massive score in anagram roguelike Watchword - out now
21 Sep 2025 at 5:51 pm UTC

This game first appeared on my radar in May when it was featured in GoL. Then I watched a couple of the "Devlog" videos on YouTube. A solo developer, developing his first game published on Steam using Godot. That got me interested. I played the demo and enjoyed the game play. I bought the game a couple days after it was published. There is only one problem... Games like this make me feel stupid. If I game requires any kind intellect, I am SoL. I think I am going to get better (higher scores), but I am never going to be on the leaderboard... That is certain.

A second Hollow Knight: Silksong patch is ready for testing - here's the details
19 Sep 2025 at 3:46 pm UTC

I decided not to buy Hollow Knight: Silksong upon release. I no longer have the reflexes to play games that require a high twitch factor. If I were to be honest, I am not sure I ever did. From the reviews I have seen, I made a good decision. Reviewers are commenting that Silksong is "dang"/"freakin'" hard. One commenter asked the question, "So is Silksong too difficult for its own good?" Another reviewer suggested that Silksong could lose the race for game of the year to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 because it is too hard. In reading down that patch notes, it looks as though some of these concerns have been addressed.

Microsoft's 6502 BASIC is now officially open source

On a shelf behind my primary gaming machine I have a copy of the Commodore 64 User's Guide that was included when you purchased a C64. It is 167 pages long and a significant portion of the manual is dedicated to teaching the user how to program in Microsoft BASIC. It is not a light read. So yes... the first operating system I used on my home computer was written by Microsoft. However, about six years later I was introduced to Slackware Linux and my world of computing became much brighter.

Here is a link to an online version of the manual:
