How Steam Computes Linux Sales

Think of all the people who won a gift on Steamgifts without even knowing the "gifter" OS nor for how long he kept the gift....
The statistics are already completely wrong thanks to that whether you like it or not.

Quoting: ripperThat is not how it works, through....Quoting: Beta VersionIf i buy a game, put it in inventory and after 7 days gift it to my friend which uses Windows - will it count toward Linux?Yes, if you don't mind cheating...

O.o I really want to play it now!
I have a HD 7730 with 4GB of RAM and a very old CPU.... I really need to cut off that bottleneck sometime.
Still, 5 fps is definitely surprising.

Quoting: dubigrasuSo my theory is right? If you buy ON LINUX and never play it, it will count as Tux sale...?Quoting: liamdaweIf it's a Windows game, and you never play it, but it was purchased on another platform, it would default to Windows.Still curious why Gran PC said they have several Linux sales for Stanley Parable.
Same with a Windows game purchased on Linux and played in Wine. It will probably be a Windows purchase.

Wawawait, so if I buy, say, Skyrim on Linux and don't play the game for the next 7 days it will be a Linux purchase?
If the game ever gets ported by a porting company they won't game the money because the purchase was before the port, of course....
But still, will it count as Linux sale?
