It's always nice to see improvements in the wayland gaming area, I've recently change to wayland by default and can confirm that even with Xwayland I've notice improve, so I'm very optimistic about wine using pure Wayland in the future.
I hope they don't have so much trouble about Vulkan support in a near future.

Quoting: GuestIt's almost sad, to see Valve stepping up with so much effort into something that's reportedly so buggy..Hopefully the resource and knowledge acquired in the process can also be used to better support future DX12 only titles on Proton.
Spoiler, click me
And also, again, my friendly remind of we should asking the devs to support Vulkan before asking for a native version

Remember some people complaining about the new steam ui? Now I think most of then won't even remember how it was without look in google. It's a cycle that happens every new version.
I personally like how they're improving this new layout without need to wait for another major release, the only thing I don't like is the chromium-based browser.

Also I'd like to use the opportunity of this hot topic to remind us all that before start to demand linux native games, we should first start to demand Vulkan native games, so layers like Wine/DXVK could work better and developers could be one step ahead of supporting us natively in the future.
It's not just Windows OS that keep developers out of Linux, it's DirectX too

Quoting: GuestNowadays native ports are out of the question and we are happy if a game *may* run ok in Linux using a compatibility layer tied to a specific store and only if you have a specific vendor gpu. Amazing progress! It's because you're looking this situation in the wrong way,Linux gamers are actually happy to using a compatibility layer tied to a specific store and only if you have a specific vendor gpu from not working in Linux in any way at all!

If I was a fan of games with "random generated maps" I certainly would play this one.
But I still like those kind of projects. I wish more old games could receive this kind of love from the community.

I've recently change my DE to Gnome because I wanted to try Wayland and Cinnamon won't support it in an near future (thank you NVidia Mintboxes)
While I have some minor "annoyances" with Gnome, I can't believe how well is Wayland/XWayland for games. Some of then even improve fps and fixed a delay input problem I had with some games, so I don't regret my change.
I personally think Manjaro did well making Gnome default to Wayland like Fedora is already doing, In order to improve the compositors and I hope KDE users can also benefit somehow from it.
