Dying Light 2 Stay Human is out and works well on Linux

Quoting: Spl-itIn a single player game that also has 4 player co-op, that would be highly unlikely.
You might be unaware that Dying light also has a versus mode (pretty fun though)

Dying Light 2 Stay Human is out and works well on Linux

There's one thing that saddens me about this game is that, back then when they attempt to make a native version, they didn't had vulkan and the linux graphics were in a sorrow state. That resulted in a (opengl) poor performant native version specially compared to the later Proton that made use of a more performant API.

Nowadays they have everything to make a great port for a linux version, thanks to so much investment that was made along those years, but there's almost no probability that we'll see another attempt to make it, due to the problems with their first attempt, and the fact that Proton justifies the lack of reason to work with anything that isn't DirectX.

At least we can somehow play the game on linux and hope that they don't put any kind of anticheat latter.

Steam gets a few useful UI tweaks to show Cloud Sync status and Game Install Size
3 Feb 2022 at 3:46 pm UTC

I would love if steam would let us choose which file we can send to the cloud, there are a lot of old games that either don't use cloud sync (Fallout 3 for example) or they didn't configure the sync function right (FEAR 3)

Quoting: t3gNot sure if you are trolling or not, a Nvidia GTX 970 that I had back in 2014 supports Vulkan.
No "trolling" it's a legit commentary, I presume you probably live somewhere in North America / Europe so the scenery of someone using an Ivy Bridge notebook or something older than "Nvidia GTX 970" might sound absurd to you

Dota 2 on Linux gets upgraded to use the newer Steam runtime container

Dota 2 client. This included dropping OpenGL support
While I am all for prioritizing support for new technologies (Vulkan, Wayland, Pipewire, Rust...) won't this decision leave out players who don't have a compatible card?

I don't play this game and I don't know if the game is already heavy enough to not run on older setups, but while their main competitor (league of legends) does the opposite (can run on weak computers and have non-english with voice localization) in order to embrace a bigger player base, drop OpenGL will exclude Linux players with non Vulkan hardware (which may not be many, but they probably exist)

SDL 2.0.22 will default to Wayland on Linux
27 Jan 2022 at 1:19 pm UTC

Awesome, I finally won't need to force Wayland through steam startup parameters anymore (but I will still need to override the game library on some cases)

Now I only need to wine/proton to mainline Wayland patches as default, then I can game without x11 on almost all of my games.

Also waiting to firefox to do the same in the main version.

Quoting: EikeWe actually are doing this with our build servers when something goes wrong. And it does help more often than not. :-D
I did it a lot when I had to manage proxy servers using squid3 and iptables, so I know that feeling...

I hope this help developers to do more Vulkan games, because we will really need those now that Microsoft is buying every company out there
