NVIDIA 378.09 beta driver released, adds OpenGL threaded optimizations by default and more
19 Jan 2017 at 9:27 am UTC

Quoting: GuestA little slower and introduced some issues. Planetary Annihilation: TITANS and Insurgency would hang for a second here and there. Reverted back to the 375.26 driver and everything went back to normal. Maybe a bit early for this one.
i did not notice this, but i teste ARK Survival Evolved and it seemed to disable GL THREADED there, though when i forcly enable it i will get huge performance boost.
so it doesnt seem to work as expected yet

Some thoughts on switching from Ubuntu to Antergos for Linux gaming

Quoting: KeyrockHow does this compare to Manjaro (also Arch based)? Because, I'm quite happy with Manjaro (XFCE Edition).
Antergos uses same repos as Arch afaik, so there will be less package conflicts with AUR

Manjaro holds back some updates and maintains their own repositories which can be problematic with AUR compatibility in some cases

Quoting: GoboIs that why after every few starts the game will show lots of concept art pictures with a slowly crawling progress bar before even running all the developer/publisher intros?
yes, its compiling shaders with new drivers.

Wine 2.0-rc5 release, moving towards a final stable version

Quoting: KimyrielleStill, working on Windows games having a native port available is an odd decision, given the dozens of high profile games NOT having a Linux port. One should think it's the lowest possible priority there is. If working on that game helps -other- games running better, the logical choice would be directly working on the -other- game.
not really. the issue fixed might have been entirely for something else, which just happened to fix this game also so its bug got closed and listed on the changelog. Somtimes the fix has been there for several versions but the bug hasnt been closed yet cause they are waiting for someone to confirm if its working or not.
Also it might have been logical thing to fix first before moving to the next things that depend from this fix etc.

you get the point.

SteamVR support for Linux looks like it's getting close
14 Jan 2017 at 9:55 am UTC

i will wait few generations of improvements in VR and also price drops.

One day, all VR vendors should sell them as "monitors" with standards. Not like atm that this game supports only this VR and that game supports only that game. thats just stupid.

it does run superbly on my machine also, all cranked to max except few shadow things which seem to cause problems with opengl it runs over 60 fps. PC info is in my profile.
I have played this game on and off and i only had performance problems with it when it was a unity 4.x title. way way back in 2013

as for posisional audio, i never fancied this, i have tried few times but it didnt add much to my game experience.
many games that would benefit from positional voicechat do have their own implementations anyway
