Shadow Warrior 2 Announced, Seems to Be Getting a Linux port
11 Jun 2015 at 10:12 pm UTC

Oh god, Shadow Warrior is one of the best games on Linux atm. I played through the game twice in a row and still laughed at all the silly jokes xD Cannot wait to play this with friends, hopefully they succeed in making co-op interesting!

I think 2 hours is a bit too much time, they could've gone with 1. Apart from that it's great.

Where is the option: "No, I don't have a console, but I'm considering buying a SteamBox when they come out."

Valve's Source Engine 2 Looks To Be Coming To Dota 2 As A DLC

I look forward to playing (read: losing) some Dota 2 games with a SLUG team ^^ I've joined the guild, but all the other people who are online scare me with their "3000 wins" and "4000 wins" :-p Another beginners event would be nice and I'm certainly willing to participate (after my exams!)

Valve Officially Drop Paid Mods
28 Apr 2015 at 3:51 pm UTC

I thought they were considering a donation system, I hope they still implement that (and not with 75% going to Valve and Bethesda!), in itself I think the community at large was not against modders getting paid, but it felt like a money grab from Valve and Bethesda (at least that's why I was against).

TL;DR: Glad, but hope they implement a donation system!

Gabe Newell Takes To Reddit To Answer Questions On Steam Paid Mods

I don't think "Pay what you want" is the right thing either (although a step in the right direction). I'd prefer to donate money e.g. after my first try. (Maybe after you close your game you'd get something reminding you that if you like the mods you're using you might want to donate)
Another thing I really have issues with atm is the cut. 25%? That's a very small cut. Too small in my opinion. Valve definitely needs a cut for maintaining the infrastructure and offering a marketplace. Bethesda also deserves a cut IMHO for maintaining the game and providing mod support. But 75%, seriously?

Steam Officially Starts Allowing Paid Mods In The Workshop, People Are Upset

There's several problems that we already start noticing:
Valve is removing mods that have donation links (because valve and bedesda aren't getting a slice of the cake)
There's mods making money using content "stolen" from free mods.
There's mods making money using copyrighted material.

Although I'm all for modders getting paid for their work, I think this was a bad move. Look at greenlight. There's a lot of content on greenlight that is either bad, or probably not legal. I'm afraid the mod stores will be even worse.
I'm not much of a mod player. So I don't have much of a bone in this fight.
We'll see how it plays out...
